Re: Impromptu Games
I have a pair of 3v3 PvP scenarios .... Fr/Br on a spain map (i forget which) and Fr/Ru on Meckel map
I think I could try to create one called "Amazon" where Phil starts in a thickly forested area that is starting to burn in the North and getting cleared in the South and he has make a dash to the next wooded area 1.7 miles away to the southeast but the latrines are 0.5 miles to the northwest. That's just a 1 v AI though because we would just sit and watch him to see what he would do

Sunday's battle was a decisive victory for the French side. The Emperor was well pleased that Montmirail was saved from the barbaric Austrians.

There were however some suspicious wee stains on the Moroccan rugs behind two of the pillars in the Salle des Belles Dames. Questions are being asked as to which French division was tasked with defending the palace. Perhaps its commanding officer has an explanation?

Sorry for shooting off so quickly from today's game, dinner must be made And all that. Whoever fought me in the east, north of Wardfart or whatever, bravo to you! This was my first ever PvP in SoWWL, and you absolutely destroyed me! And it was fucking brilliant xD

Re: Impromptu Games
You were able to keep Ehey's division away from the main fight, which was a crucial part of the battle. At the end, your division still had 5 or 6 btns. on the field. Willard also did very well by shutting the door on the French cheese bearers moving north.
It would be a good scenario to play again with the teams reversed and a different objective town.

Re: Impromptu Games
I'm glad people enjoyed it. I am always reluctant to offer PvP games because people can invest more into them and the result can matter more. Its why I tried to make this one as daft as possible. Yes, Max did very well, though with hindsight I'd have sent the cheese convoy up the east side behind Ehey to push past the collapsing Max in the last 15 minutes.
Willald did superbly and I had no idea it was him commanding the Prussian extreme right that blocked the road to victory for the French. Well done Willald, brilliant tactics.
Yes, I think a replay with some swapped around players and a different objective would give another fun game. This basic recipe of Side A must get to X and Side B must stop them usually gives a fun fight.

Re: Impromptu Games
I, Ehey, was the division across from you, Max. You did well enough. You got your guns up before I had mine which can be an important factor in a battle. It certainly put pressure on me to get aggressive and find a better position. I also had a lot of cavalry and heavies, that I was able to really exploit the discrepancy in the cavalry match up which can be tricky to deal with.

Re: Impromptu Games
If we don't have any other offerings for Friday I have done a P v AI game set in Italy that needs 5 players minimum but can accommodate more. If we get 7 or more it could be played P v P.

Re: Impromptu Games
You are all very kind, and it was a highly enjoyable experience! Honestly, this is a really wonderful community of people playing together and having fun, and I am very happy to have become a part of it. Ehey, those cavalry was definitely the death of me, and when you moved your cannons into the highground that I gave up, I knew their roar was the sound of my death bell. An absolutely fantastic show, and I've never had more fun in a defeat ever before.
Unless dancing with my other half is cancelled tonight I shan't be around, however I look forward to our Tuesday game next week, as sunday I shall be playing ArmA

Dancing???
I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 BST.
Tues. battle resulted in Napoleon being deprived and disappointed in not having his favorite, runny cheese at his birthday soiree. Although I do think Wellington offered a wheel of his favorite Stilton as substitute.

Friday's battle was generously ruled as a draw. Forgive me for having a weak moment. It was another case of the same tired story; another 30 minutes and it would have been a clear Russian victory.

Re: Impromptu Games
I think I can play today. And if I do I likely can’t stay. I will have to take a brigade or if CinC I will transfer my command before dying a valiant death. And Kevin the phrase “generously ruled as a draw” is loosely interpreted by me as “could not toggle the ‘I Win’ button in time before game expired”

Sunday's battle was an unusual victory for the Austrians. Somehow Ehey and Phil avoided obliteration.

Re: Impromptu Games
Please be aware that Kevin is absent until ~5th November on holiday in Europe (odd time of year to go, but there you are) and I am away in France this w/e fighting battles from my ongoing miniatures 1941 Ostfront campaign in 15mm.
I'll be back for the Tuesday game on the 29th but we'll need a temporary host over the next two weeks and some scenarios. We could play some stock KS ones.

Re: Impromptu Games
Just to avoid extra confusion - there's been change of time in UK (as far as I can remember it doesn't sync with USA change of time) - so we'll attempt to have a game in about 2 hours from now (19.00 UK time)

Guys
I'm back now and can host a game. I've attempted to put a scenario together and will test it out beforehand.
I should be on Discord by usual time, 7pm GMT. Note that GMT moved back 1 hour today, so I think US Eastern time is 4 hrs behind, right now.

Re: Impromptu Games
Thanks for providing the scenario yesterday Grog and we were all sorry you could not play. I hope things worked out okay for you. We had a great game and successfully took Ramillies early on with a coup de main and then held off a series of poorly co-ordinated attacks. Curiously once the French collided with us they seemed to entirely lose interest in the objective and slugged away at us all along the line, making no effort at all to capture the objective.

Re: Impromptu Games
Thanks Martin
Sorry I didn't play. It was my wife's birthday weekend but hoped the Celebrations had finished but not so.
Saw the replay. Thanks Martin and Miko. Good fight. On the test, the French division nearest Ramillies took the town. That would have made it more challenging, I think.
From the replay, It looked like the French divisions got too cramped together. It might be better to space them more next time.
See you Tuesday

Re: Impromptu Games
I think I have a shot at playing today. With the time shift in the UK is it 1400EST or 1300 EST for today’s game?
