Oh dear. And I was looking forwards to a nice relaxing Friday evening. Now I have to order troops around to whom "column" means a pillar that holds the roof up.

Re: Impromptu Games
Another grim fight. Its very hard to win with the 1806 Prussians, even when the AI doesn't do anything subtle. I lost my cavalry at the start due to an overly aggressive cavalry brigade commander and an equally pushy opposite number on the French side who happened to have 5 squadrons of chasseurs to my 4 of hussars. I drove them off but had only 2 tired shaky squadrons left for the rest of the battle, which were pretty useless.
I had no light infantry at all so trying to drive French out of a heavily wooded shallow valley full of confusing folds in the ground and streams was exhausting.
We pushed the French back but found out after 3 hours that all 3 of our divisions had only been fighting one of theirs! Two fresh French divisions were sat on the objective town and had we had another 3 hours I doubt we'd have pushed them out.
Kevin and Pepe played well but our old-fashioned army was too sluggish to push forwards through such horrible terrain.
I think the KS Mod does a very good job of showing the style and limitations of this army. Its quite different in feel and capability than any other.
Finally - Kevin, I think there is a road break somewhere in the blue box. I was marching my division from its start position SW to the red star on the Macon Route and at the fork at the NE end of the box my units all took the left turn.

Re: Impromptu Games
Anyone up for a game Monday (tomorrow) or Tuesday? Maybe even Monday and Tuesday
My PCs not up to playing Waterloo yet however, so it would need to be GB or a mod.

Re: Impromptu Games
Assuming it’s just 2 or 3 of us today, I suggest we do a Plains Indian Wars sandbox game. This would be set in 1864-5, rather than 1876 for a change. You would need the latest version of the Little Bighorn Mod here https://www.dropbox.com/s/g78yccakwjhawu8/KS%20Little%20Bighorn%20Campaign%20Working%20Copy%20%282%29.zip?dl=0
For tomorrow, am working on an ACW scenario set in Arkansas, which would be suitable for 3 or more. For that one, folks will need the Additional ACW Flags & Sprites Mod here https://www.dropbox.com/s/71n9i9qsy10g12v/Additional%20ACW%20flags%20%26%20sprites%20Working%20Copy.zip?dl=0
Martin (J)
[Kevin - I think you will have both of these already]

Re: Impromptu Games
A reminder to anyone playing the Little Bighorn game today that you need to make following changes in Options.........
OPTIONS MENU
------------------
• Sprite ratio of 1 - To reflect the actual numbers engaged (adjusted on Options Screen I)
• Display Target List unchecked - Otherwise you receive too much information! (adjusted on Options Screen I)
• Map objects minimum - To exclude buildings, fences and crops from any map (adjusted on Options Screen II)
• Vegetation 30% - To reflect the lack of trees on the high plains (adjusted on Options Screen II)
IN-GAME OPTIONS MENU
----------------------------
• Do not tick Auto-display Courier messages - Otherwise you receive too much information! For different reasons, neither the US Army not the Indians were in a position to make use of information from intercepted messages.

I shall be there today. I have spent this afternoon and early evening trying to debug the Reynosa OOB without success. I need a break. I need to go kill something!

Re: Impromptu Games
Excellent. We shall be recreating the Powder River Expedition of 1865. We have a clear advantage in weaponry (including some light artillery) so I expect complete success, Gentlemen.
There are a few problems however. As ever, we have the challenging task of finding and destroy any villages in the area. And the troops are not happy. They signed-up to fight Confederates, not chase Indians. And the Civil War is now over!

Re: Impromptu Games
Some shots of the battles over this weekend. First Friday's fight between our Russians and the French AI at the town of Smygel in Poland. This was a really strange battle; the AI had 3 divisions and split them all up, sending 5 of its 6 infantry brigades north to attack Kevin's division while it sent 1 brigade, all 3 of its cavalry brigades and I think all its artillery east to attack Morsey and I at the objective. Never seen the AI split its forces like that before.
My infantry counter-attacking the town of Smygel which briefly fell in to French hands. Evidence of the grim cavalry battle earlier lies all around.
Later on Morsey's and my divisions advance: "The Empire Strikes Back".
A couple of pics from last night's Austrian vs French player vs player game; Kevin, Tom and I were the noble Austrians against Pepe, Mark and Sean's libertarian republican scum.
My reserve division battery in action against some Bavarian guns.
Mark's attack gains momentum - columns advance while shedloads of cuirassiers charge Tom's hapless light cavalry.
Near the end as Kevin's hussars counterattack to drive off Mark's heavies, one of my grenadier battalions charges a French square.
