I can play today. How did yesterday's 1859 test go? Could we test it again? Or the Merkel map again?

Re: Impromptu Games
I can be there tomorrow but my broadband still isn't working correctly and I may have too narrow a bandwidth to participate. I should probably take a minor command just in case.

Re: Impromptu Games
There are rumours of a game on Monday the 11th using Gettysburg and fighting *shock horror* an ACW battle.
Martin - is this true?

Re: Impromptu Games
Well it may be. But I still cannot be sure, as a family issue may prevent my attendance.
Here is the scenario anyway. It's designed for coop play vs the AI for a minimum of 3 players, but could accommodate more. It will also require the Murfreesboro Winter map, and the latest version of the Additional ACW Flags & Sprites Mod, which I'll put up a link for later today.

Little Rock or Bust
Background
It is 7th February 1863. After the Confederate commander Tom Hindman refused battle at Prairie Grove a few months back, the Union army was moved from NW Arkansas by rail and river to Helena on the Mississippi.
From there it has commenced an advance NW on Little Rock, which is the capital of Arkansas and the main rebel base in the state.
Special report for Union at 16.00 hours
This strategy appears to have caught the enemy on the hop, and your advance has been successful thus far, but in the last couple of days you have been severely harassed by bushwackers. This has made it difficult to obtain good intelligence of the enemy's movements and strength. You have confidence in your own experienced troops however, and in December Hindman appeared to have little in his newly-raised conscripts. Back then the rebel army was organised in 3 infantry divisions under Frost, Shoup and Roane. There was also a cavalry force under Marmaduke.
So far today, your army has moved through Murfreesboro on the main road NW to Little Rock. Blunt's tough division is in the lead, and he reports rebel Texas cavalry ahead of him on the road. At other points bushwackers have been spotted on both flanks of your column.
Time is of the essence. The rebels will undoubtedly be drawing their own troops from NW Arkansas, and you must push NW off the map today. You must also cover the main road however, as it is your LOC back to Helena.
Dusk is around 19.00 hours.
Your own force
This consists of over 11,000 men, organised in 3 divisions:
1st (Kansas) Division Gen Blunt 1 infantry, 1 cavalry bgd
2nd (Missouri) Division Gen Huston 1 infantry, 1 cavalry bgd
3rd (Missouri) Division Gen Herron 2 infantry, 1 cavalry bgd
