Even though the battle was fought in widely separated locations, the Russian serfs could not match the determination of our men.

Too late to help the Emperor, they met the Allied Reserve Corps just to the east of the village. The resultant battle ended with the French being repulsed. The march to Paris can now proceed.

Friday's battle ended in a humiliating defeat for the Austrian Empire.  Rumors of treachery and collusion with the enemy by one of our senior commanders have swept through the army!  A certain FeldMarschal Vucassovic was observed being in contact with an enemy general.  Shortly afterwards a distinct lack of aggression towards the French was impossible to ignore.  Perhaps an independent investigation by the crack Little Gaddesden Intelligencer's Austrian bureau can shed light on this embarrassment.

Fear not, Uncle Billy, the Little Gaddesden Intelligencer will not let you down.  Our elite Austrian bureau is now on standby, ready to root-out infamy wherever it is found..........and occasionally where it is not.  Thoroughness is our watchword.  One cannot make an omelette without breaking eggs, after all.

Another battle against the garlic eaters, another disastrous loss. The very foundations of the Empire are being shaken. Surrounded and cutoff, the Corps of von Rosenberg-Orsini was crushed. However, it has been reported that a few of senior commanders were seen shaking hands and drinking wine with the victors. Once again, the name Vucassovic and now Saint-Julien appear on the rolls of suspected traitors. We need those eggs broken and broken quickly!

You are saved, Uncle Billy. It is my great pleasure to report that a large number of eggs were ceremonially broken this morning at the offices of the Little Gaddesden Intelligencer. A large omelette was immediately prepared and eaten. Numerous toasts were exchanged.

Job done, I think. Never let it be said that we Little Gaddesdenites are slow off the mark!

The army responded quickly and searched the towns of Kippengen and Seedorf without success. The Emperor was finally located on a hill to the north in the arms of his mistress. Always the opportunist....

And we succeeded on Sunday without any apparent artillery support. Our CinC/Chief Artillerist being otherwise occupied eating figs and picking flowers by the roadside. While his bouquets were most impressive we would have preferred some grapeshot upon the Austrian squares
