Our CinC, true to form, marched the Corps into a situation where we were attacked from front and rear at the same time. It was only by the shear genius of the division commanders, (completely ignoring the hysterical ravings of the CinC), that we were able to extricate ourselves from the trap and achieved a great victory.

The battle ended with a massive cavalry fight where all the infantry and artillery were but spectators, cheering on our respective side. At least the Austrian won that piece of the battle, so it wasn't a complete defeat.

This time we were led by the Emperor himself against everyone's favorite enemy, the Austrians. However, apart from being the butt of a few short man comments, he served no useful purpose. A flawed plan and flawed direction led to an unavoidable defeat...by the Austrians! Pitiful.

It will come as no surprise to this readership that a certain division commander was again scared of his own shadow and cowered behind the guns and cavalry for most of the battle. It was only after the CinC placed the muzzle of his pistol to this commander's head that he finally worked up the courage to advance.

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 BST. Friday's battle was another victory for the French outside San Giacomo. The Austrians took up a strong position in the heights west of town. The French immediately engaged and fought their way to the crest and then proceeded to clear the rest of the enemy from the heights. The battle ended with a massive cavalry attack on the remaining defenders, routing them all from the field.

The battle would have been over sooner if the ungentlemanly French had not tried to flank us with another division cowardly hiding north of Rohr.

The infantry and cavalry fought with great courage and elan. I think we had artillery on the field but it didn't make much noise, unlike the person commanding it.
