Re: Impromptu Games
I always get stuck doing the heavy lifting. Still, I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 GMT. Tuesday's battle is better left unreported. We failed on all fronts.

Kevin had no problem suffering defeat under Grog's leadership, though... however, still claimed he was the one doing "heavy lifting"... Although, I wouldn't disagree if he claimed he contributed into battle way more than Phil did...
Miko going savage mode! I will be there today.

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 GMT. In Friday's battle the French manage to hold onto the city of Alagon. Although we were able to destroy one of their divisions, we were unable to finish the job.

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 GMT. Tuesday's battle was a very satisfying victory over the Russians in spite of Pat's destruction of half our cavalry.

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 GMT. Friday's battle was another victory for the French. They convincingly repelled the Austrian attack. Fortunately for them, the Austrians are used to losing.

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 GMT. After Sunday's battle, the Emperor is giving serious consideration to bringing back the guillotine. Matters went very well everywhere on the battlefield, save for one location. His head will look good on a tall pole.

He's not a noble so Guillotine is not suitable... Emperor might want to forget this day as it was his orders that led to the failure...

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 GMT. Tuesday battle was a victory for the French mostly due to the Russian officers being at odds with each other and refusing to cooperate. It almost makes you think Pat was in charge.

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 GMT. Friday's battle was a close run thing, but a defeat nonetheless. A number of French, division commanders are being reassigned to less demanding commands along the Holland coast.

Re: Impromptu Games
How come it takes our men 15 minutes to destroy supply caches, but it only takes the enemy 1 second? Seems fishy to me. I cannot make it today, I'll be there Tuesday.

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 GMT. Sunday's PvP was a victory for the French. Probably the fact that Vince had to play as the despised British didn't help their cause. Pat being British didn't help either.

Re: Impromptu Games
Thinking of handicap points for the side that's got more divisional commands than players... but on Sunday the British strategy was wrong - neglecting Azambuja defence and throwing a brigade for destruction when every percent casualty counts were obvious errors... also Pat's upper lip not stiff enough could cause a morale drop among British...
Hope we can swap sides and see how it works with 6 or more players...

Re: Impromptu Games
To be accurate, I would not say that Azambuja was neglected since they were 6000 men, 4 squadrons of cavalry and a battery there. The thing is I didn't realize that my division commander (AI) disposed his men almost North of the town and stayed perfectly inactive until I arrived (probably due a too conservative stance).
And he never informed me that he was engaged, THIS is a big problem when we play with 2 divisions at separate places, they never tell you that the ennemy is there. At my arrival, French were at 400 yards !
The other problem is that I had almost 3/4 of all British forces in my hands due to the highly unbalanced composition of corps.
With 3 players in british side, I think there is practically no way for French to win (maybe cross the mountains ??). I controlled the northern pass with no more than 2 brigades and 1 cavalry squadrons (artillery impact was negligible and then routed). If a third player secures the southern pass with the entire division left at Azambuja, I guess British have 5 points without difficulty.

Re: Impromptu Games
Vince, but given circumstances that you had 2 players then not delegating a human player to closely watch on Azambuja and spending so much time engaging just one French division north with Pat far away from the objectives was a mistake. And yes, I'm curious how it's gonna play out with 3v3 or 3v4... I thought would be very difficult for French... hence their base is worth 3pts vs Azambuja 2 point... also French force is slightly larger...

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 GMT. Friday saw the Russian army march into Belgium and rout the reorganizing French. It won't be long before the Cossacks are watering their horses in the Seine.

Before Kevin says his word I'd like to blame primarily Ehey or Super Bowl for Sunday's defeat also Kevin's obstruction of the great plan and Phil's memory (though, this time we did protect rear successfully )

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 GMT. Balderdash! Phil and I were the lynchpins of the operation, battling fiercely the entire time. Our loss can be completely laid on the doorsteps of Pat, Ehey and Miko.

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 GMT. Tuesday's battle resulted in the destruction of the French by a Prussian juggernaut. Or at least by part of the juggernaut, since one Korps did the fighting while the other mostly watched.

Re: Impromptu Games
I missed that game but based on the content of Kevins post I am assuming that in his mind he carried the entire burden on the battle. OK. Duly noted.
Imagine, for a moment, carrying the burden of Kevin as a subordinate commander. The endless courts of inquiries, the never-ending parade of well-wishers (paid for by Kevin himself aka his "rent-a-buddy" program) clogging the roads to his HQ and thus disrupting movement, the added expense of a battalion of personal servants. It's enough of a burden just to get his command to the fight in the first place.
