Well if I am going to fail then clearly it will not be enough to simply “fail miserably” ... I need to fail in a spectacular way.

My favorite moment was hearing from one division commander (who shall remain nameless) who said “i put my division to road march and went to take a whiz...” Only to find when he cam back that they took the wrong road. I mean with subordinates like this I actually look forward to seeing how bad we can get slaughtered, so it motivates me to take deliberate command steps to exacerbate bad situations

Frankly there weren’t enough French troops. I am surprised you only threw a dozen divisions at us

I think the "wrong road due to having to take a wee" excuse probably should go down in KS history. The thing is the following division... followed! Probably the battle was lost due to someone needing to take a leak.

I think it is warranted that we Refer to said division commander as “whiz kid” in future correspondence

Observation from a lowly Lt. Col.: Undoubtedly the whiz kid's misadventure was a factor in the embarrassing results. However, the lack of oversight by the CinC, wildly riding around the far flanks of the army as if on holiday, was the critical error that led to disaster.

Technically I was leading from the front of the Army. Scouting the ground my valiant troops were going to cover and in fact directed the attack upon Mira where we hit the French from 2 directions ... at least at first. Having said that, it would have helped matters greatly had I checked out the Whiz boys for myself and helped extract and redirect them. The fact that these actions were not accomplished is something I conveniently ignored in my report to HQ. Note that I did ask for porta-potties to be lashed onto baggage trains in certain divisions and for a certain Lt Col brigade commander (known for his incessant ‘well if I were in charge none of this would have happened” type complaints) to be sent to lead the detail charged with cleaning the potties.

Also, I have a PvP (3 divisions each) scenario ready to go if we wanted to do that. And of course something from the "Pat folder" could work too lol

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 BST.
As reported above, Friday's battle was a disastrous loss. The French couldn't have asked for a better positioned victim.
Today, we can be French in a new scenario or take one out of the Pat Commands Folder.

Sunday's battle resulted in a minor reprieve for our CinC. The Russians were soundly defeated. Although one player managed to destroy take command of a 2nd brigade after his 1st was reduced to 1 btn. That brigade was also soon reduced to a single btn.
Today we will fight the Prussians.

I shall be there. It was a great tragedy for the orphans and widows of said brigades to see such a veteran commander reduced to incompetency by his long absence from the saddle. The gentleman concerned clearly should never have left the army!

I watched the tragedy of endless casualties in that command from a distance ... on my horse ... eating lunch ... with a significant degree of emotional detachment. Hardly moved in fact. But knowing his casualties allowed more of my men to live.

I secured two of the three objectives at the total cost of only 3 dead and 19 wounded from one of my battalions. My other 14 battalions and 2 batteries were not even fired upon and 11 of my battalions didn't fire a shot. A most curious battle. I think the Russian commander was enjoying an even more relaxing lunch about 10 miles behind his lines.

You are exactly right Phil

Heartwarming. I agree.

I see all this as a result if my newly-christened “Heartfelt Sacrificial Lamb” or HSL strategy whereby a division commander is chosen to be deployed to a position such that it is blown to pieces thereby enabling another division or two to skate by, getting all the glory with few casualties and have time for a nice meal. But my heart is in the right place while I execute said strategy. I mean I really felt good about it. Your men died so well too. And that in a way was also heartwarming to watch.

Ironically I was planning to take the objective myself as I shifted south to allow you to support Digby - thereby achieving the status of sacrificial lamb myself - but you were so ADAMANT about going after that “undefended” objective yourself, well, who was I to stand in your way? Again a heartfelt response.

HSL is such a “feel good” strategy I will simply have to try it again.

Tues. battle can be summed up in one word, defeat. It's not a particularly unusual result however, but 8 humans battling the Prussians with a small silicon wafer for a brain? Pitiful. pale Even though the HSL strategy was employed and one division melted away like an ice cream cone on a hot summer day, we still failed. Obviously the employment of HSL requires an experienced hand to navigate the subtle intricacies of such a strategy. This is yet another scenario that goes into the Pat Commands folder.
Speaking of ice cream, we will be Austrian today.

I shall not be there today. I shall simply rest upon the laurels of Friday’s brute force, pummeling victory carried out by an excellent cadre of capable commanders who had to deal with pre-battle intelligence reports placing the enemy — every last battalion with no exceptions— 90 degrees off axis from where they actually were positioned.

Once again eight players went down to ignominious defeat, the fake news above, notwithstanding. Clearly our CinC requires some remedial training.
Today, we will be Russian. It's wintertime in the Motherland.

“Fake News”

Nothing fake about “Major Victory”

I sense pride there coming out in defining what is real and what is fake. But in the spirit of cooperation perhaps we will call it a draw. Good luck today gents.

Miko led us to a glorious victory today as the Russians against the French in 1807 Poland. One of my uhlan regiments went crazy and destroyed 4 battalions and a battery in one charge. That 2 regt uhlan brigade ended the battle with over 4500 points. I've never seen anything like it.

Tues. battle was case of, another day, another defeat. When will the humiliations end?
Is it time for a PvP game so at least half the players can claim victory?
