Re: Impromptu Games
I can be there today. Did you play on Saturday? If so how did it go?
If you saved Friday's scenario we could replay it. That might help in a test situation.

Re: Impromptu Games
We did play Saturday. It does appear that cavalry cannot move through the infantry lines now. There has to be a large gap. However, cavalry vs cavalry casualties seem unrealistically high. I've made some adjustments to this and we can try those out today.
I did not save any of these test scenarios. They are pretty simple affairs and take little time to create. Today's will be on the Mufreesboro map.

Re: Impromptu Games
That's fine. My reason for asking was so that we'd get identical starting situations. Always useful when testing.
I have always thought the cavalry melee casualties were too high - even vs infantry. If cavalry contacted a square there was a lot of huff and puff and posturing but then they rode away without too many losses.
A nice side effect about the passing through lines. I never liked it when the AI or a player parked a squadron right behind (or among) his infantry lines that could dart out at any time.

At first I wasn't sure I'd like the consolidation but now I can say i definitely like it. And it does require some forethough to maneuver those guys.

Re: Impromptu Games
We had another test game today and I too am starting to like the new arrangement. Cavalry are no longer the super-weapon they were before and you have to be very careful and think hard about when and how to commit your mounted troops. That feels right to me.

Fine by me. How about 1807 on Crikey's latest Russian map version?
