Re: AARs - post here all after battle comments and replay files
After the massive fur ball between Taft's troopers and mine I was barley combat effective. Although I run him off the map he damaged me to the point of uselessness. I tried to push on his guns and Digby's INF on their left flank and my trooper had no gumption for these things. I just ended up watching Curt's flank. I did use the remaining trooper in the final defense of the intersection that Curt was holding onto but we were both worn out.
Regardless it was a good game.
Curt you don not need to practice against the AI anymore you did a great job and playing against a human player(s) is a whole new ball game. I am sure I can speak for the guys you are good to go. You will learn more by playing with us then you will practicing against the AI alone.
As far as what went on to my left I have no idea what war crimes transpired, but when I saw Pat on his ragged horse riding in on the right side of our line barley holding on to the stirrups and not letting his butt hit the saddle as he pranced in; it what seemed agony. I knew the fat lady had already started to sing her tune on our left.

I'm not at all sure I got the better end of that deal. Yes, there were a few baubles on the train, but when my men began a search of the British CinC's personal wagons, all they came up with were women's shoes and under garments. Whatever does he do with all that?I had to do a deal with the devil Kevin that I'd accept the Belle Alliance silverware as my reward for the victory as long as he had the pick of the Allied baggage.

I heard Madame Fifi was missing some of her finer under garments yesterday afternoon.

I am trying to put that whole day ... and evening ... and following morning ... behind me. This discussion of my baggage train is not helping. Plus some of the undergarments were to be Christmas presents for Kevin since he has been complaining about the look and feel of his current collection. And now THAT surprise is spoiled as well.

Kevin, have you still got a savegame of the Landshut battle from very near the end.
I am writing a scenario for Day 2 of the battle and wanted to run it as a save format so that the bodies are still on the ground from the previous day's fighting.

No I don't. The auto-saves get rewritten in every game.

Re: AARs - post here all after battle comments and replay files
Yesterday’s game reminds me of that scene in the movie “Gettysburg” where in the wake of Longstreets Assault, Lee tells Pickett: “You must look to your division!”
And of course a mournful Pickett replies: “Sir I have no division!”
So yesterday I felt like Pickett in that scene. A notable difference was the fact that my troops were neither the lead in the assault nor did any actual assaulting. In fact we were the reserve line behind a division that stayed put. Our movement (save the opening moves when my cav ran down some inf battalions) was mostly lateral in nature
And we were (for a while) living proof that the AI artillery is not always going to default to the closest unit when firing at range. It picks other characteristics. Like
my sprites being taller than Phils. Perhaps the AIs desire to make “von Winning” an ironic name. So many new discoveries to seek.
In any event I wanted to share that little tidbit.

Ok so I have to ask if my nefarious plans embodied in the scenario came to fruition....

No. It was a ridiculously easy scenario to win! The two front French divisions fended off light and half-hearted attacks. The Russians moved around us, yes, but then did nothing. I was the French reserve division and enjoyed Madame Fifi's company all day. My guns fired a few shots at some Russians to the west but none came close.

Re: AARs - post here all after battle comments and replay files
The AI behaved differently than my dozen test runs. The attacks to the south were feints. But 2 division should still have hit you from there. The real blow was the 2 divisions from the NE and N. Darn!!!!!!

There was a div in the N which moved eventually but didn't apply any great pressure. There was a div that came around from the west and again didn't do much. I sat back with my reserve guns and just racked up a score against it.
More scenarios like ths please Pat.

Thats weird and disappointing. I even had repeated the attack orders every so often for the different divisions in the script. Oh well.

Did you test in SP, Pat? Years ago, I had the same problem with my GB scenarios.
I don't know about Waterloo, but in GB the AI can play the same scenario quite differently in MP.

I always test in MP. But I shall overcome this lol
I noticed you guys did an interim save about 40 minutes into the game or thereabouts. Might that have anything to do with it do you think?

The AI has a variety of battleplans to choose from. Quite often, I'll test a scenario several times and the plan the AI uses for the actual game will be different then any I saw during testing. This is one of the best features of the game as it makes for a lot of replayability.

It also means the scenario creator can meet surprises too.

Re: AARs - post here all after battle comments and replay files
Pat - here's a link to the replay of Sunday's game. You can see that the scripted division moves worked perfectly - but they just took too long, went too far wide and consequently arrived too late. All the AI's attacks also arrived piecemeal. Phil was able to beat off the SE attack, then swing to stop the NE one while Mike stopped the S/SE attack then faced W to hold off that one. I had nothing to do except send out scouts and sample the entire wine list at Madame Fifis.

How did Wednesday's game on the Kelheim map go? Any chance of seeing the map/briefing and the replay?

Re: AARs - post here all after battle comments and replay files
Of course. Here's the situation report.
Once the Austrians were back across the Danube in force, the French army drew off to the west. The enemy
immediately seized Kelheim and garrisoned it with an entire corps. The Emperor ordered Général Marmont to
move back east and cutoff the enemy's line of communication that stretches across the Danube and into Austria.
This was successfully accomplished this morning with the hope that the Austrian 2. Korps will be forced to
attack.
Intelligence:
Our only information concerning the disposition of the enemy forces comes from civilian reports. Our light
cavalry forces were severely damaged in the last battle. Only Général Friant's division has any attached.
These civilians report the Austrians are concentrated in and around the city. One civilian reported seeing
a large concentration of enemy forces at Echendorf. It is unknown if this force is part of 2. Korps or represents
the van guard of a second Korps.
Objective:
If the enemy will not leave the city and come south to do battle, then XI Corps must move north and eject the
Austrians from Kelheim. Once the city is recaptured, proceed NW to Echendorf and block any enemy reinforcements
from attacking Kelheim.

In our game yesterday - Mundolsheim scenario on the Souffel map - I don't think I ever saw a French square shooting. I was quite close to them a lot. Anyone else see them shoot? Any thoughts about why?

They were definitely shooting on our far left flank. Maybe because I was taunting them. But I saw only one square for sure.

Odd, where I was must have been some weird terrain shaping then, even though it looked like flat ground.
Kevin, will squares not shoot if their morale is very low?
