AARs - post here all after battle comments and replay files
I've been posting replays and commenting on battles on "Arranged games -> Impromptu games" thread, which is meant for... arranging games rather than discussing them. Thus the idea to do it in separate thread. From now on I'll be posting all replays and comments here (all non-campaign battles for sure).

Phil and Miko held out over Mike and I in a slugfest. This is how close it was. Good job Phil and Miko!!

Thanks for posting this Mike.
I'll just remark that French were unable to use 2 brigades of cavalry and 2 batteries(or maybe just 1 if Phil got his) which all have stuck in the area off the map. This however turned out fair as French starting position was near very nice high ground and we got first on top of it.
Also this explains a good result for Allied cavalry which at some point overwhelmed French tired lights.
Thanks to everyone for participating and to Mike for another interesting 2v2 scenario

Mike - thanks for creating an impossible scenario - it was lots of fun
I think the idea with AI having 4 divisions vs 3 player controlled divisions is worth applying and exploring more.
What annoys me a bit is that Cavalry stalls infantry advance. I understand that if infantry regiment was to march in front of fresh Cavalry Corps there would be some resistance in soldiers minds. It's enough that shattered single Cavalry Regiment stands somewhere and full infantry brigade can't even form 300 yards from it.
Is this hard-coded? Is it maybe possible to make infantry less cautious on certain stance? (I think the only solution for that at the moment is TC every battalion and command at short distance).
Meanwhile, I'd suggest not giving AI cavalry quantity advantage (I think quality would be enough).

Miko,
Good points and I am glad you enjoyed it.
I will mess around with the setting for the next game CAV wise. I noticed the same thing with my INF and their CAV.
Sheesh they had a ton of Horses too.

Infantry squares under AI control will gradually advance against cavalry. This was a change Kevin put in quite recently. Its good for an attacking infantry force but I have found that when defending my squares begin to move forwards against the cavalry, which a defender rarely wants.
I wonder if this behaviour could be linked to stance?

Squares will only advance if the cavalry is unsupported by friendly infantry, (they are within 400 yd. of the cavalry). Militia grade infantry will not move even if there is no enemy infantry nearby. They lack that skill.

Yesterday's scenario was called "Saving Kevins Milkmaids" to welcome him back from exile in the Grand Canyon.
Here is the replay: Please notice how I was the spearhead of the operation. Phil was moving at a Low Speed High Drag pace and Kevin just stayed there and waited for the maids.
I broke on through to the other side and the maids escaped right into our arms only to ask where Kevin was and then ran towards him. SHEESH!

While waiting for the milkmaids to show up, I whiled away the time by defeating the French Guard. Had I truly been in character, I'd have waited until the Guard turned their attention towards Mike and then sacked the unguarded prison. You owe me big, Mike.

ohh... that's an great replay you've got there... shame the clock stopped before the fight was concluded around objective.
Phil - you cheating bast£$d! - your general was way too far from your troops on sole scouting mission If Andrew did that then Mike would never make his march around the western flank...

Good point Miko - everyone must always keep your general within 250 yds of your troops. To go off scouting take a cavalry squadron with you or if you don't have one, a skirmish infantry btn.
Why did the game stop there? It did look like it was just about to get exciting.

The lag was horrible and the Russians had achieved their objective.

Sorry I arrived an hour late today. I had not been feeling in the mood for an SoW game for a long time but after 2 glasses of wine tonight decided I was.... but I forgot you'd shifted the start time back 1hr.
How did it go?
I will try to make a game on Weds if the world isn't a ball of nuclear fire by then.
