Friday's battle was a French victory. The Russians had set up a formidable defense in depth around one of the towns, but fortune smiled upon us. Our CinC, Pat, took a bullet in the head and dropped out, making the victory possible.

Victory was well in hand before the bullet felled me (in inspirational fashion) from my horse.
Excellent teamwork and responsiveness from my subordinate commanders made victory possible. Certain brigade commanders however are in need of remedial training

Superior leadership, (Pat wasn't CinC), and superior performances by all division commanders, (Pat wasn't one of those either), resulted in a complete rout of Russian forces. A most satisfying battle.

Re: Impromptu Games
Well... not a complete rout. The cuirassier division facing my right flank which I informed a certain cavalry commander about but which he chose to ignore stalled my advance for the last hour of daylight. This meant all the canapés were gone when I arrived at the celebratory banquet buffet. Most bothersome. I think we've beaten that scenario the last two times so perhaps time to retire it from the Pat folder?

My name has been used in vain in successive posts. Enough of such drivel and references to folders also with my name.
See you Friday on the field, gentlemen. I will be there.

Re: Impromptu Games
We almost won again yesterday, it was an epic fight with wide sweeping vistas of valleys crammed with thousands of troops and mayhem in every direction. A kind of Borodino in Spain; a Christopher Plummer and Rod Steiger size encounter on the Costa del Sol.

There were ~146,000 men on the field that day. Quite a fight. The cavalry charges were brutal too. Martin, I'm going to nick the Rod Steiger shot for the KS owners manual if that's alright.

Yes, feel free to use any screenshots I put up here, no need to ask. They are all your fault anyway. Do you need a version with that bit of toolbar edited out?

Tuesday's battle against the French in Spain was judged a marginal victory for the Austrian Expeditionary Force. Crossing the Road of Death in the open terrain was not easy. But it did result in long views of a spectacular battle.

I shall be there today. The victories achieved by armies I lead are never marginal. They are either “major victory” or “not exactly a major victory” or “wait a second whilst Kevin re-codes the AI because it is not attacking the way he wants so everyone get out of the game and Look on Discord for the new .dll file”

Pffft. Superior generalship can overcome any obstacle.

Re: Impromptu Games
A new .dll file isn't an obstacle, its an entire changed reality. Who knows what your deviant mind can cook up in the 3 minutes after those suspicious crashes that seem to occur whenever my score approaches a positive integer.
I hear that Max can play today. If we get 8 people I have a 4v4 PvP on offer. I also have some more Spanish madness on everyone's favouriteMeckel map if people are feeling especially brave... or mad.

The Spanish army wasn't quite up to throwing out the Russians from the Ruhr Valley and stealing all the chimneys. If we had the wheel, we could have brought more guns with us.

Turns out I have time/space today. Also turns out I need a brand new division since my last command more or less decided to not stay the entire time due to reasons of death, dismemberment and wholesale panic.

Sunday's battle was a little less than successful for the Austrian Expeditionary Force of Spain. For one individual, it was a bit more so, but that made it all the more satisfying for the rest of us.

Tuesday's battle saw an impressive attack by the Prussians fall short of victory. Now the Prussian apologists are going to foam at the mouth about the French being nearly surrounded at the end. But from the French perspective, they had attained the central position.

Re: Impromptu Games
As commander for that battle I welcome any Prussian officer who is envious of the French position to ride over and turn coat. Just mind the 50,000 bodies of your new dead comrades on your way. Those hills are slippery when wet.
Alas I am called away for the weekend. I have sorted out my maps though so Tuesday I will be ready for all eventualities.

Re: Impromptu Games
My schedule just changed. Apparently I still have a paid job. So perhaps a Pat folder for a later time.
ALSO
Are we to have a critique of the Austrian performance from the one who invaded and seized an unoccupied village and somehow claims that as a pinnacle of combat performance?
I thought the tactical execution was near flawless. My division did very well except for one errant brigade. Rogue commander. Unable to transfer him out of the division unfortunately.

Friday's battle was a French victory over the Austrians. The Austrians behaved in true Austrian fashion in showing absolutely no initiative, following their initial orders to the letter. Even the KS group can beat an army like that.

Sunday's clash was a near run thing. However, the British were able to hold on to one of the objectives and deny us our just and outright victory. I hate when they do that.
