I can play today at the slightly non-usual time, 14:30 EST, 19:30 BST. We'll try out the 1806 Prussians today and a new dll, of course.

If you read my e-mail, you'd know I won't be able to join before 20:00 UK time. However anticipating how long it takes to figure things out with CoTD, feel free to try to get this sorted prior to 20:00. I bought the game and tried different things but I wasn't able to get "miniatures" working for SP game.

Or do we play pleasant Prussian scenario tonight?

We could mess around with CotD until Miko arrives. I did manage to get a miniatures option come up yesterday in one campaign.

Let's convene at the usual 14:00 EST, 19:00 BST and work on the CotD issues until Miko can join us. I still have an 1806 Prussian scenario. It should be a cake-walk. Twisted Evil

We should convene a general's conference 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the planned attack on Gunzburg in order that all commanders can update their files and get their commands in order (installation and file update and pre-game MP test to ensure everyone is ready).

There may be a number of files for players to install but most are on Dropbox in the 1805 folder.

I am around for a game today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 BST but as I've been away most of the week the Second Battle of Gunzburg is not ready. I have a PvP scenario on the Spain ECF map (2.5 miles) but if you'd rather play Co-op then I hope Kevin has something.

Yes, 2nd Gunzburg is ready. I have uploaded all the necessary files to the 1805 Dropbox section.

Someone needs to step up to the big chair and make a plan.

We have 5 commands:

Murat (all the cavalry corps - 3 divisions plus one en-route) - seems like a job for Superkevin.
Ney - who should take Duponts Div
Loison
Mahler (who is arriving later - I could take him)
Tilly (VI Corps cavalry division)

Gunzburg - 6th October 1805 - 2:00 pm
-------------------------------------

Situation:
---------

After the battle here of 2 days ago, part of Murat's cavalry (the carabiniers and cuirassiers of the divisions of Nansouty and d'Hautpoul and the dragoons of Klein) have withdrawn north over the Danube to rest and reorganise. The less badly damaged dragoon divisions of Walther, Beaumont and Bourcier hold the area north of the town of Gunzburg, covering a line between the town and the Danube.

Ney's VI Corps has arrived and the divisions of Dupont and Loison have formed a line west of the town. The weak cavalry brigade under Tilly has been reinforced by the cavalry division of Fauconnet from Lannes V Corps and is deployed to cover the infantry's left, or southern, flank. The third division, of Mahler, is still about 30 minutes march away.

The Emperor is delighted that the Austrian withdrawal was halted by Murat, although he is less happy with the losses suffered. His Majesty has ordered a counterattack today, as soon as Ney has his corps ready to advance. His Majesty believes that another hard, sharp shock to Mack will break the enemy commander's will to continue to attempt to withdraw. If we can halt his eastwards movements here, the rest of the army will encircle him, from Giengen to Augsburg.

Intelligence:
------------

The enemy has amassed a very strong force of all arms west of Gunzburg in the region of the monastery of Sacro Cuore. This force is arrayed for battle and its front stretches from the woods at Villa Buona Vista to north-west of the wooded area north of Mulino a Vento. It comprises Werneck's II.Korps of the divisions of Auffenberg, Kerpen, Hohenzollern, Klenau and Gottesheim as well as the corps reserve artillery. Coming up yesterday, behind Werneck, were observed elements of Riesch's V.Korps comprising the divisions of Gyulai and Hessen-Homberg, again with corps artillery.

We have 17,500 infantry, 7,800 cavalry and 600 artillerists. We must assume the enemy outnumbers us by a significant margin. His force may comprise 40,000 men with considerably more artillery.

Objective:
---------

Attack the enemy with a fierce harsh blow in order to crack his resolve. Should this attack falter, ensure the town of Gunzburg is held.

Forces:
------

I can play today at the usual time, 14:00 EST, 19:00 BST. For the 1805 campaign we have the second day to fight of the second Battle of Gunzburg. I think history will call this all one battle, with the 5th October counted as a day of rest and manoeuvring by both sides. I was incorrect in my assessment previously, all the French forces that were present yesterday are there on the 7th October as well. However, given how closely the two sides spent the night of 6th-7th October, the French are unable to determine if any fresh enemy forces have arrived, or if any have withdrawn. A morning check of their deployments however makes it seem like little has changed.

French Order of Battle:

Commander in Chief: His Majesty Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte

Réserve Corps de Cavalerie: Maréchal Joachim Murat (5599 Cav. 21 Guns)

1er Division de Dragons: Général de Division Dominique Louis Antoine Klein (958 Cav. 5 Guns)
