I can be there today.

Maybe the Russians will be "doing" the French again.

Sorry that we had such a bumpy start, it is not usually that bad. It cost the French vast amounts of lost time in getting across the river because columns had to be restarted and given new orders and this took ages to implement.

A game of this kind with so much space to move over could probably use a 3-hour time limit.

I also think the scenario was not one of our best. With such limited resources it often doesn't work to give each team two objectives. With only 3 players its very hard to secure an LoC and attack a target a long way away.

We can try out whether we are each able to host if Kevin isn't available. The in-game feature that supposedly opens the ports seems to be working for me now.

I wasn't aware of that new feature. I do remember Windows Firewall asking me if I wanted to let SoW through and said yes, so maybe that is it. That's not the same as router ports though.

If you have a separate router attached to your PC modem or a modem router SOW will not open them automatically. With those devices you have to manually set them yourself and in some cases then redirect your Ethernet connection to recognize it.

Windows Firewall only works on opening your internal Ethernet card ports within you PC.

You can do this if you no how to, your ISP Tech should be able to it if allowed, you can have someone do it for you at your house or you download PC sharing software like team-viewer and let some do it online over the internet. Even then depending on what your ISP allows it still might not work.

Now the above should would probably be for connections like mine to be able to connect to a PC for MP games my phone uses a different NAT(old like a phone modem but faster) connection. Newer PC/Ethernet/Cable etc... have a smoother way for people to connect for MP games

Kevin's, the other Martin, Andrews and Al's (I helped him set his up) allow me to connect. I have actually somehow after tinkering with my connection hosted a SOW game with my cellphone connection and ran very smooth.

I can just hope that one day I get a first world connection hard wired connection to my house which to the right is 110 mtrs away and to the left 1000 mtrs away.

We should check and see if I can connect to you Martin and them try to get your pc set up that way. The easiest and fastest way is to give me control of you PC via team viewer.

Team view home page Here you can read about it and the security that it has to prevent anyone from maliciously getting into to your PC. It is a popular and secure program and free for this types of uses.

OH I can be there today for a game.

I have a separate router/hub device all in one, no extra modem or whatever. Its a BT hub and very modern. I have even gone via its internal software controls to set up an open port but could not do so - it didn't have any way for me to tell it my IP address and i was stumped. I have told it to let SoW through but it seems to make no difference. To be honest I have an extremely short attention span with IT techy issues like these and really can't be bothered. we have other hosts in our group so its no problem.

Yes, I can play today.

I have been thinking today about a series of linked games in a mini campaign style that would be very lo-admin to set up and run and would effectively give us connected games of a sort to play on our casual game nights. It would mean Kevin wouldn't have to create so many scenarios and we'd have fewer "Russian meatgrinder" encounters unwittingly created by our newest and most avant-garde scenario creator Wink

I'm gong to set up a separate thread to test if there's interest for it.

Kevin if I make a Scenario and let the FR AI have a grand battery will it work? They will be on the offensive.  I was wanting to do a Borodino scenario with the Russian defending the high ground on Old Post Road on the southern flank.

I think they attacked from the high ground in that actual battle.

I wont be here tomorrow but I can do this PvAI for next week.

If you set it up with an artillery division already in range of the Russian, it will likely stay there and fire away. You'll have to test it to be sure.

We don't have enough players to play a campaign game. If Kevin is around we can do the second battle in the 1814 test campaign.

Map is France Cold Harbour, Bavarians are near Saint Ouen and the objective is Sezanne.

I just need to know which three Bavarian divisions Gen. Wrede wishes to commit.

Unless people want a PvP game I can do the third and final part of the 1814 mini-campaign.

If Kevin can play I have the last battle of the 1814-mini set up, he just needs to choose his divisions.

Or if he does not play (or even if he does and people prefer some PvP) we can play something else.

I am happy to do either.
