I can't do any of those times or dates as my el gets in the way so anything after 22:00hrs GMT would suit better any day of the week

Re: Doodle link for Battle of New Market
Agree with Mark, we could use an early evening time of around 19:30 UK (our usual slot) and a late time of around 22:30 UK for those late people in the EU and most of the USA contingent.
I think we should try and work it around slots where both C-in-Cs can make it and see who else can fit around those times and dates, i.e. Kevin & Stefan are a 100% "must have" and other players need to fit around the times both those can play.
My suggestion is that, Neal, you ask Kevin and Stefan first, then offer a doodle with those dates/times to everyone else, offering dates over at least 2 weekends.

I can do this, but not for some time as it is 6 a.m. where I am and I just got to work. If someone out there wants to move forward with this in the meantime, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I'll handle it when I get home.
I couldn't do anything yesterday evening, my electricity was off, plunging me back into the world of 1861! That was okay though, I found my Civil War sword and preached at the neighbors their sinfulness for using mechanized conveyances, with which Providence would have provided us with at birth, should that be our intended mode of transportation. Luckily, the power was restored before the fair punishment was to be administered, which kept the constabulary at bay.
Who we really need are the division commanders. Based on Cleburne and Seitzinger's availability, we can plan from there. Can you gentlemen post your availability through the next two weeks?

We need to accept that we will never get all the players in one place at one time. I should think the best we can hope for is about 75%

Any time except possibly 2000GMT on the 20th is fine for me. But Neal is right, Sven and 'D' are the critical actors here.

Martin I am aware all to well that my time constraints mean I may not get to the battles hence the above post much to my dislike but I will deal with it.

We need to hear what Sven's availability is. It appears "D" is widely available.

That's what I'm afraid of. I need to get to that seminary first and convince the nuns to give me a peek at the goods they jealously protect.Father General wrote:It appears "D" is widely available.

We march by day, and read Xenophon by night
We will be your Greek phalanx
Let General Georgia and His Looting Pillagers Come forth to meet us"

All these lies being fabricated. First off Nuns live in convents or nunneries and are Catholic. A Lutheran Seminary is a theological school for future Protestant pastors (fun fact: the school is still open today). I would suggest going there to cleanse your souls of these lies however it's a school in the North, so it cannot be trusted

Fake nuns!?! Must be women of the town in disguise. Just when I trembled at the thought of confronting a pack of mad dog nuns armed with rulers, I find that the women can be bargained with. Yes, fortune smiles on this army.Baldwin1 wrote:All these lies being fabricated. First off Nuns live in convents or nunneries and are Catholic. Re: Doodle link for Battle of New Market
Hey guys. Sorry for the late reply.
I probably won't be available this & next weekend. My girlfriend, who works in Switzerland, comes to visit and since I only see her rarely I'm going to spend that time with her. I can play 4 times a week, on weekdays except friday during the next two weeks. Weekends will be impossible though.

Re: Doodle link for Battle of New Market
In order to get this moving, would you mind, Sven, if someone else was US div commander if you can't make it? Are there any volunteers for this role? Would this be OK with the corps commanders and Neal?
If all were OK with this, I would suggest we get everyone to sign up on a doodle page* and if we can get 6-8 players for a slot we go for it.
*perhaps with some weekend slots (say 7pm & 11 pm UK time) and a couple of weekday slots to test the waters.
IMO, we need everyone who signed up for a command to enter their availability on the doodle page. If you just post your availability here, without completing the doodle page, someone else has to do lots more working out of times. Doodle is really simple and quick to complete and works really well.
I'm keen to actually fight a battle in this campaign.
Jeff
edit: just been back and checked the doodle page and I see we have 8 people for a slot this Saturday. I haven't checked which side they're on. Is this Saturday a possibility?
edit2: I've discovered that I can edit anyone's entry on doodle! I hope people don't mind that I've edited their names to show the side they're on, to the best of my knowledge. I can't find an up to date list of all players and there may not be such a list.
HTH,
Jeff

Re: Doodle link for Battle of New Market
I am very open to any idea that moves the battle forward.
Heck, I even thought about taking a BLUE brigade if I had to, just to facilitate. Then I realized I'd have a hard time explaining to my family just why I would be subsequently showering with steel wool for the rest of the day.
For the record, I have no plans to participate or spectate on grounds of propriety.
Anything you gentlemen work out is fine with me as long as the Corps commanders OK it.

And to what will your GF have to return to should the Confederacy lose this battle? You must explain that this fight is for her -- and your future children. All 12 of them. After that, one way or another, you should be totally free on weekends.
Just trying to help.

Re: Doodle link for Battle of New Market
We have 9 players for tomorrow. Heck, if we make it much bigger, it might just crash.
I think we're close to critical mass. Not sure who is US and CS, I think the US has 1-2 more humans. I don't have my spreadsheet before me; I am at work.
I'm open to ideas. If need be, maybe we can form a couple mini divisions by tweaking the OOB. Two brigades to 1 commander? Set the div commanders in the corps commander slot.
Would this have any effect on the OOB going forward?
-Neal

Re: Doodle link for Battle of New Market
Tomorrow's looking good IF the Union can arrange a div commander.
Has everyone on the doodle page played some HITS & Courier battles in MP? We have always asked that people do this before playing a scenario game, just to iron out any wrinkles.
Is anyone hoping to play tomorrow but NOT signed up on Doodle?
As this battle has taken a lot of work to prepare, IMO it is reasonable to ask people to sign up in advance. Hopefully there will also be more scratch battles taking place which people can join ad hoc, but this isn't one of 'em.

Tomorrow looks most likely.
Worst case, would there be any objection to Kevin taking the role for the Union?

Re: Doodle link for Battle of New Market
Having Sven command is my preference since Kevin is a very good C-in-C!
EDIT: BTW, Jeff, Hays is US, Grog is CS. I have no idea even who John L Roberts is!
