Hi a quick update I do not play SOW and you have me as a European player. I only played the demo several years ago and would ask that you remove my name from the list please.

Happy to set up the forums when you say what exactly you want and have a name for the campaign against which I can use for sub forum names etc...

Cheers

Ah, I'm Sorry Mark - though you should have asked to join one of the command teams! Very Happy

Wittman, sorry but I want to keep the command team quite separate from those who play battles, but you are more than welcome to join us for casual games.

Hello everyone. Unfortunately we may have lost a CSA map team player, he hasn't participated at all in the e-mails and planning discussion that's been going on a week. I've chased him by PM on these forums but no reply yet.

I'm going to open up his position in the team to anyone else who wants to take it; preference being given to people who do not intend to play in the SoW online campaign battles.

I filled the post above but unfortunately a SECOND CSA player has had to leave the game before it even starts due to being busy at work.

Would anyone like to command a CSA division?

I know from our discussion last wek that the campaign has started, Digby. Will the military censor allow you to say anything about its progress yet?

Father General, the post was filled several days ago by Paul.

@ Martin - I could begin narrating some events. I think I need a separate thread though.

Tell me the name of the campaign and I can set up the thread with that name under this section.

Yes a new thread would be good. I appreciate you will need to be careful what you say, but some sort of narrative (say a few days in arrears?) would be good for your pools of pc battlefield players, and probably others too. Get us into the zen of the thing and all that........

Don't actually need to know this, but am interested. When we get to resolving a battle, will the briefings actually be written by folks on the two map teams, based on their knowledge of the overall campaign?

I won't be able to play in the battles generated in the Valley Campaign as Saturdays are - *sigh* a work day for me. My apologies for not being around; Mrs. Ike has been ill again and I've been busy helping her.

The Battle of Weston, Wednesday 6th May, 1863
====================================

Some good news. After a lot of trouble mastering the OOBs and scenario construction, the first battle of the campaign is almost ready.

Master OOB is built, Hays's fantastic campaign battle regulator tool is working and I have the troops all placed on the map for the first battle.

I am just finishing off writing the briefings for each player and we will be ready to go.

This battle needs 3 CSA and 4 USA players and you must have the Antietam add-on since it is being fought on one of the maps that come with that pack. I am not including myself in those 7 players. I'll be on the field as a neutral British observer.

If there is a need to fill a spot I can play the late game friday or the game sunday.
Sides dont matter to me I could command a brigade, not to sure about artillery but would give it a try.

Post  Mr. Digby Tue Jul 17, 2012 9:10 pm

Thanks everyone. Here's the original team breakdown we (I think) agreed to months ago when we started. Several people didn't express a preference but I tried to get 2 or 3 players on each side, and on each side of the pond. Baldwin, you were not around then.

The idea is that once you begin playing in the MP battles on one side, you stay with that side throughout the campaign.

UNION BATTLEFIELD TEAM (SCOURGE OF WAR:GETTYSBURG MP PLAYERS)

USA players:
Kevin Komisarcik (Uncle Billy) USA BST -7hrs
Lloyd Willis (Ike) USA BST -6hrs
Steve (kg_sspoom) USA BST -?
JJGordon USA BST -6hrs
+ others

UK/Europe players:
Martin James UK BST
Jeff Humm (Blaugrana) UK BST
(Leffe7) Europe BST+1
+ others

CONFEDERATE BATTLEFIELD TEAM (SCOURGE OF WAR:GETTYSBURG MP PLAYERS)

USA players:
John Johnson (4Texas) USA BST -6hrs
Jack Hangar (Kerflummoxed) USA BST -6hrs
Neal (Father General) USA BST -8hrs
+ others

UK/Europe players:
Paul D (King_Rufus) UK BST
Niall Tobin (Hays) UK BST
+ others

============================================================

WSH Baylor and Hays put their names down early for the CSA (see above list), so those two get first dibs on the Reb team. If John (4Texas) can play, that completes the CSA side as he too put in an early vote.

So that gives us Baldwin and Sspoom on the Union side, probably to be joined by Uncle Billy. If Leffe7 or Blaugrana can step up to the plate, then that's our two sides done for this first fight.

Post  Mr. Digby Fri Jul 20, 2012 12:00 pm

Sunday 22nd at 19:30 UK time is the fixture that most people can make. Only Blaugrana and Uncle Billy have marked it as a 'no'.

Can either of you two make that time or is it a definite no?

If you can't, that gives me six players, which means I would have to play the most minor USA role. I don't want to but at least its a role that could affect things least. John (4Texas) has not been seen around for a week or more and he may show up, which would give us the 7 we need. If John contacts me before Sunday I will put him on the CSA team and the sides will look like this:

John - CSA C-in-C, Hays, Jack (brigade commanders)
Leffe7 - USA C-in-C, Steve, Baldwin (brigade commanders), Khryses (artillery commander)

If John cannot make it the teams will be:

Hays - CSA C-in-C, Baldwin, Jack (brigade commanders)
Leffe7 - USA C-in-C, Steve, Digby (brigade commanders), Khryses (artillery commander)

If Uncle Billy and/or Blaugrana can make Sunday, I will adjust these teams.

Either way I will send the final briefings out no later than noon Sunday (my time) giving everyone 7 hours to read and digest.

Note there is to be no communication between players on the same sides prior to the game, both sides do not need to due to the strategic and tactical situation.

It is looking like either Hays or Leffe7 will be our host unless John or Uncle Billy show up with their faster connections.

I want to remind everyone to all play the game IN FULL SCREEN MODE. Windowed mode apparently adds a lot to the net traffic and has caused our larger group games to crash. If you all have your Teamspeak whispers set up, full screen mode is not a problem.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks guys but John has now been in contact and he will command the Rebs and be the host, so we're going with Plan A:

John - CSA C-in-C, Hays, Jack (brigade commanders)
Leffe7 - USA C-in-C, Steve, Baldwin (brigade commanders), Khryses (artillery commander)
Digby - Neutral British liaison officer

Start time is 19:30 UK time, Sunday 22nd July

Looking forwards to seeing you all there.
