Re: Campaign discussion
Hello all
I just need one more non-Scourge of War player to join the Confederate command team and we are good to start. Any takers?

Re: Campaign discussion
Apologies but there is any chance of a summary here? I believe that I am a Union "map player" now but I am not at all sure what that means: I've had a look through the posts but frankly there are so many it is difficult to see the wood for the trees!
Please note that I do not want to often travel often down to LG just to play map games; I believe that we can 'meet' online but that is not clear to me either.
So a point-by-point explanation of roles/responsibilities would be very welcome.
Thanks ...
Richard

It will all be done by email. You only need to read these four posts:

Re: Campaign discussion
Just waiting on a name for the campaign and I will set up the restricted forums on Tuesday and give access to the appropriate players. So what are you naming the campaign?

Yellowbelly likes 'No Guts, No Glory' – [being an idea generated, but not used, by Arthur H’s Chestnut Lodge guys]
Re: Campaign discussion
I wondered if everyone playing the campaign has all the SOW add-ons (pipe creek, antietam). If not, please tell.

Re: Campaign discussion
The Pipe Creek maps will be used for some of the nodes so...
If you don't have it you won't be playing in the battles which occur there.
Mark - I am beginning to wonder now if specific private areas of the forums would be of any use. The players can't exchange any information there due to Kriegspiel rules. Perhaps there could be a public area for the campaign so that players could post AARs, gossip, misinformation and propaganda but all actual military intelligence should be kept to the players and not shared except through official channels.

Re: Campaign discussion
Almost. I am struggling to find the 5th elusive CSA map level player. Would one of the Union players move to the CSA side maybe?
Or would one of the Scourge of War online players be willing to give up the online battles and instead join the CSA command team?

I would be willing to volunteer.

Re: Campaign discussion
I'm sorry, Ike, I missed this question.Ike wrote:I have all the add-ons. What mods are we going to be using?
Just our usual one, Little Billy's Couriers and Maps v1.402
People can use any toolbar they wish and any terrain mods.
I'm now becoming reluctant to use the random maps by Garnier that change East Cavalry field because to use them we have to use his gameplay mod and that is very different from the stock game (it cripples artillery which is my main worry plus does odd things to movement and fatigue).
We might end up using one of the new, flat, tree-infested Alpine maps instead. Not ideal but better than nothing.
So I'd recommend you download those too.

If there is still room I would love to take part, any role at all.

Re: Campaign discussion
Hi Rich, thanks for your interest. Yes, already got you down as a member of the Union team.
I am tidying up the OOBs and initial briefings over the easter weekend and should have something for all the command teams during the week.

Re: Campaign discussion
The game is running. I have sent the opening briefings to the two teams to decide who is taking which command and to prepare their plans.

Re: Campaign discussion
Could you possibly post rosters and an OOB (of the players)?
I need to set up my whisper list and such. Do we have a dedicated forum?
I'm excited!

Re: Campaign discussion
Team summary is here:
http://forum.kriegsspiel.org.uk/t224p60-campaign-discussion#1812
I haven't agreed with this websites admin about a dedicated forum yet. I will when something happens. I think there should be one thread for people to chat out-of-character about the game's progress without revealing anything important, observers and others can contyribute too; a thread for the two sides map and battle players to post AARs and propoganda and screenshots . This thread would be an "in-character" thread (I like to see some role-playing), and possibly a third thread that I'll use for official notices regarding the progress of the fighting.
What I have decided today is that when there is a battle and the SoW players assemble to play it I will have, already prepared and ready to send them, a briefing about the events in the campaign for that commander so far. Because the SoW players are taking the roles of possibly any commander on their side and will be fighting all the battles, they'll wear different hats on different game evenings - my idea is I'll send each player a summary of the experiences and the information available to that particular commander so each player can go into the fight armed with the info the person he's playing would have.
On top of that will no doubt also be a briefing from your respective corps or division commander summarising what is required in the coming battle. This should specify the basic reason you are there and what you need to do to accomplish your orders. These two briefings combined should be sufficient inspiration to let the players make the battles develop in meaningful ways!
