Re: Impromptu Games
My hops are better then yours.
In a parallel universe far far away but not so far. There is a major crisis forming around Hops. Prussia stopped shipping Hops to Great Britain over the high taxation of Prussian Silverware imports. In a stunning and most shocking event it was discovered that Austrian spies had infiltrated the Prussian Hops market and stolen the prized Prussian Hops and is now conducting business with Great Britain and has restored beer production in the isolated island kingdom. The Prussian Monarchy felt so embarrassed about the theft of hops that they sent some of their finest to do a search and rescue mission to liberate the kidnapped hops. The word at all European Pubs is that the Prussian SAR team is closing in on the Hops location. Austria must Defend and Prussia must attack the Hops Hoppery in Netolitz.
This can be a PvP or PvAI

Re: Impromptu Games
You missed a good bloodbath vs the Russians. It played out very much like any one of the battles fought during the retreat from Moscow. The French lost more than a third of the troops engaged. The Russians lost more.
With Russian forces nipping at the flanks, the retreat from Moscow has been slow and painful. The few messengers that have been able to get through from the west report that a sizable Russian unit is assembling in the vicinity of Yadrovo with the obvious intention of halting the French column.
Due to limited fodder for the horses, the cavalry is quite weak and requires rest. The constant demands made upon it has reduced its reconnaissance value tremendously. Thus, you have no real idea of what lies in front of you.
Intelligence:
The light cavalry of Beurman and Pire have been quite busy fending off the near constant harassment by the Cossacks. Large numbers of these pests constantly appear out of nowhere and try to attack the vulnerable flanks of the column. Since your tired cavalry is barely able to defend against these hairy men, you have no idea if any regular forces are assembling behind them.
Now word has come of a more substantial force of regular cavalry blocking the main road west. Given the foggy conditions, you are unable to determine if this is merely a patrol or the vanguard of an attacking force.
Objective:
As the lead corps of the column, you must open the road west. Defeat any Russian forces attempting to block main road west through Yadrovo.

Re: Impromptu Games
If we do not have 6 or more players today, I've made a PvsAI scenario. It's a follow-on for the battle we fought Friday.
The retreat over the same roads the French took during the summer invasion has left the columns
without any meaningful supplies. The Emperor decides to force his way SW towards the depot at Minsk.
Prince Eugene's IV Corps is again in the vanguard and has been tasked with opening the road for the
rest of the army.
Intelligence:
Once again the corps light cavalry has been tasked with an impossible role given its weakened state.
Although the ever present Cossacks have been a nuisance, they have not been a serious threat and have
easily been driven off. Still, they have prevented proper advanced scouting.
Near the village of Souraz a piquet of Russian hussars from the Elisabethgrad regiment was captured.
The sergeant in command of the group was quite willing to talk and said that the rest of the regiment
is located on the low ridge just south of town along with a horse battery.
His regiment is attached to Prince Constantin's corps which is moving north to block the way to Minsk.
He estimates the corps to be 30,000 strong.
Objective:
Open the road to Minsk. If Constantin is indeed assembling in the south, he will have to be dealt
with.

No supplies for the French. They were unable to open the road to Minsk in the time allowed. Horse is back on the menu.

I can play at the usual time today, 15:00 EST, 20:00 BST. If we need a PvAI battle and I get it finished, the French will need to force a crossing of the Berezina.

Re: Impromptu Games
I can think of no better commander for this task.
The last major, natural barrier is before you. Once across the Berezina, the depot at Vilna is only days away. The bridge at Borisov, (Alt Goldberg), has been burnt and is unusable as is the one further north. French sappers have constructed two fragile bridges south of Borisov.
Intelligence:
The enemy position on the far side of the river, though formidable is thought to be lightly manned. It appears the Emperor's ruse to the north has convinced the Russian commander, Chichagov, that the main crossing will take place there.
A Russian captain captured last night has informed you that, Chichagov, while enjoying the evening with his mistress, got into a terrible row with her. The result was a knife
in the throat. Alas, Chichagov is no more. He has been replaced by General Dokhturov, a more energetic and likely more competent commander. The captain has also told you that Russian troops are moving back to the south.
To add to the misery, stragglers report the forces of Wittgenstein, Milodrovich and Platov are approaching from the west.
Objective:
The situation is desperate. Your corps has been tasked with securing the far side of the river. Secure the river crossings and get your command to the east edge of the map. Time is of the essence.

Re: Impromptu Games
Following recent legal issues in life, the job of commanding a force larger than the size of a Division will require a signed contract previously agreed upon by all parties involved. A notary will review every document before signing.
That is all.
That is all.

Have you taken into account that the best players were designated to command the hardest part?
I wish I could claim some credit but it was pure coincidence. Today we might not be that lucky
