Now that the fights are over in Britain, we'll have a battle in eastern Lithuania. If we can muster 6, we'll have a PvP game. If not, we can also play this vs the AI.
Winter 1807.
Marshal Ney's IV Corps has been marching as quickly as the frozen roads will allow NE towards Davout's corps in an attempt to concentrate the army and face the Russain army led by General Bagration. The Russians have been doing likewise, trying to maneuver their superior numbers so as to bring an isolated French corps to battle.
Cavalry screens of Ney and General Buxhoeveden blundered into each other on a rise along the Doroga Nevel earlier in the day. Both the French dragons and Russian gusars fell back at once, almost as if by mutual consent. The foggy day has greatly limited visibility and neither side wanted to begin an assault without being able to see the other's strength.
Now the infantry of both sides has closed up and the probing can begin in earnest. The crossroads at Dubrowik are crucial to the French lines of communication. Two important roads from the south, the Shosse Minsk and Doroga Nevel meet there. Likewise, Ney must secure passage NE towards Davout.

Another long hard fight. Life as an 1807 Russian is not as easy as life as an 1812 one! We won in the end, mainly due to exceptional bravery and elan from our cavalry but it was quite the meat grinder.

I'm not sure how we would have done if the AI cavalry had been placed into the infantry divisions rather than into its own division. That seemed to make it very passive.

Perhaps the AI chose its cavalry division as its reserve?
Maybe we can keep the cavalry brigades within infantry divisions for the co-op vs AI games but go for the historical OOB style for PvP?

I agree. I had designed the scenario for PvP. A player would have handled the French cavalry very differently. Since the French had to meet 2 objectives, but the Russians only one, the French had significantly better cavalry to compensate. However, the AI didn't know this.
