KS Napoleon Game Sunday, July 26th 20:00BST
A glorious situation. The Allies occupy Rhiems and Chalons. The French have set up a defense covering a line from Vertus to Saint Ouen. The goal of the British force is to push the French forces west across Le Grande Morin and liberate the four towns east of it. Extra credit is given if the bridge near Vertus can also be captured.

Kevin, is it practical before the game to substitute Prussian black hussars for the Brit hussars in the Brunswick cavalry brigade? The Prussian sprites look closer to the real deal than those poofy chinless English boys.

Re: KS Napoleon Game Sunday, July 26th 20:00BST
reports will need to be posted here as soon as you return from the field - hopefully covered in glory...
EDIT: this was the map where Martin, Digby, Morsey and I faced a Reisswitz Army more than double our size... where Morsey noticed the enemy once they were 70 yards away from his guns and where Digby was so spammed with my messages that I had to shoot one of his messagers telling me to stop... (the gall he had to actually mention it... unbelievable...)
Martin on the other hand had the luck of being left all alone and only receive the occasional "hold out until relieved" message, which turned into a "we are coming soon" and eventually into "fall back, and cover the retreat" - all of which he took stoically and with the usual stiff upper lip! Good man!)
screenshots would be nice too.. so get cracking...

Re: KS Napoleon Game Sunday, July 26th 20:00BST
Our orders to "drive the French west of the River Morin and secure the four towns on the east bank" were a weeny bit optimistic given our resources; they certainly weren't drafted by Gneisenau that's for sure.
The game had only 3 divs per side as we lacked players, so Picton was absent. The French had 3% more men and better ones too (la garde was there again, both the mounted and dismounted Terminator versions). My Brunswickers and Nassau troops were lacklustre - they'd stand all day and take it but couldn't hit the side of a barn at 50 yards. I think Pepe's division was a brigade of Brits and a Dutch brigade while Kevin had Hanoverians and Brits I think.
I did at least make the French squares eat roundshot and canister in the most gruesome manner just like they did to our Austrians the other night. I beat my high score record for artillery, surpassing 2,043 for 12 Russian 12 pdrs with 1,504 for 6 Brunswick 8 pdrs.
It was a very weird battle for me and fought over a curious area of terrain with several low small rolling ridges. It felt like a battle in a landscaped park. It started badly when I sent my cavalry brigade on ahead and they promptly bumped into a cuirassier brigade and lost 2 squadrons, putting me down to just 2 sqdns for the whole battle. Then I got attacked practically on my start position by a very feisty division which Kevin and I just managed to drive back before Pepe fell back on my left drawing a second French division onto us (thanks!). Our combined efforts drove these back too though it was a tough fight and Pepe had just issued his Duke of Wellington "the whole army will advance" order to drive the enemy from the field when Kevin was hit in his right flank by a third (and fresh) French division sporting yet more cuirassiers. At this point the 3 hours was up.
The French defended by attacking and we not only didn't drive them west of the Morin, we actually didn't advance at all!

Re: KS Napoleon Game Sunday, July 26th 20:00BST
thanks for the summary and the nice screenshots!
I was stunned when I watched the replay and see you lose your cavalry early on - that hardly ever happens
as for the rest- I wasn't there so I won't try to go into the matter - unlike Saturday's game it would appear that you were simply overwhelmed though...
