Re: Regular Monday SOW HITS games
Here's another question. Do you command the 3 divisions of Chavarria's Corps directly, or appoint someone in his role to do that for you? There is of course also the previously-engaged corps to consider. It may not be good for much, but you at least want to know it is properly deployed for example.
At the moment we have 5 signed-up. So you have enough players to fill all of those positions. Quality is an issue of course
We normally end-up with more players than have registered. In that case I'll just take a brigade.....which I shall command as finely as possible.

Re: Regular Monday SOW HITS games
as I said - detailed battle plan (with maps) to follow on Sunday evening - I currently don't have access to my MilSketch programm...
most likely I will be dealing with the AI troops - so I can focus more on annoying Kevin with a flood of couriers...
PS: Martin - you need to command a division - since I have only seen you do that last time so far - I need to know if you are a St. Hilaire or more of a "Roland"...

all good fun - I do hope people realised early on that I am VERY sarcastic - almost to the point of being zynic...
it has always been the greatest of honours to fight amongst this fine group of gentlemen/rascals... especially on Mondays!

Re: Regular Monday SOW HITS games
We loved the Turks so much that we actually invited them over to our capital TWICE...they came to stay too...
But if you go down this road you should be aware of all the love the British spread during Imperialism and the Americans, Russians and Chinese are spreading right now in a time of neo-Imperialism...

The camino Albacete
yes - this picture has been picked on purpose
Battle Order (according to current doodle sign-up):
Overall CinC: Feldzeugmeister Sol(currently on holidays under a different name (just like the Russians in Ukraine): Teniente General Bruno Villareal)
Commanders in the field:
- Martin James: Gainza's Division
- Mike "Suicide" Morsey: an infantry bataillon (Brigade command) in either Gainza's or Chalambaga's Division - special assignment later on - codename "Muerte segura"
- Martin "Digby" St. Hilaire: Chalambaga's Division (a hint towards the expected behaviour)
- "Marching through Spain" Kevin: Gomi's Division
- Roland "Hötzendorf" Invictus: Vacas' Corps under lose divisional command
battle plan:
ONE:
- Gainza's Cavalry scouts the area south of its division's position and immediately reports any enemy sightings to the east of the main "camino Albacete" - an advance up to the line leading east from Santo Domingo is permitted!
- Chalembaga's cavalry supports these efforts - coordination between the two divisional commanders is expected!
- Gomi's Division moves south along the main chaussée to link up with Vacas' remnants and form a strong defense of the southern most captured objective
TWO:
IF the area to the east of the "camino Albacete" is reported to hold no enemy formation, Chavarria's corps is to deploy in the following order:
- Gomi's Division will still link up with Vacas' Corps to the south and advance further until the enemy is sighted on the main "camino Albacete" - both formations will coordinate an orderly but conservative advance on the enemy force's as to pin them in place
- Chalembaga's and Ganzia's Division will both advance to the south and fall on the exposed enemy right flank from the east (since no enemy is reported to the south of them, this position has to be somewhere near the main chaussée "camino Albacete"- crush the opposition and make a move as to open the entire camino Albacete for the rest of the army!
strong opposition is to be expected as the enemy will most likely have assumed a "defense in depth" formation - thus a break through - even if supported by a strong flanking maneuver will be both costly and time consuming!
THREE:
IF the area to the south of Gainza and Chalambaga is reported to hold significant enemy formations
- Gomi's Division will still link up with Vacas' Corps to the south but wait until the rest of Chavarria's Corps has been brought up
- Chalambaga's Division will move to the South-West and link up with those two forces on the main road "camino Albacete" - thus falling on our left flank
- Ganzia's Division will also move to the West and act as a reserve for the rest of the Army
- once united the entire force will advance to the south - crush the opposition in a spirited frontal assault and break through to capture the two remaining objectives and open up the "camino Albacete" for further use of the army!
strong flanking forces are to be employed to fend off any move from the units spotted in the South-East - but since our main task is to open the chaussée and the LOCs the army will remain defensive concerning this matter
furhtermore small defensive forces are to be employed to guard the main road and continuious scouting of the enemy is to be conducted in order to ensure that the forces in the South-East do not attempt a flanking maneuver up to the North by themselves - if this should happen Gainza's (then) reserve Division will be used to block such an offensive manuever!
Conclusio:
Aggressive cavalry scouting is imperative at the beginning from both Gainza and Chalambaga - in order to ensure that maximum information is gathered at the earliest possible convenience! - I expect to have a first report on enemy opposition in the South-East by about 16:30 to 16:45 - once we have a better idea of the enemy's disposition we will either enact case "TWO" or case "THREE" - and deploy accordingly.
questions, gentlemen?

This plan is rubbish! It gives us no opportunity to fill our purses. All our commander is interested in is blood and glory. One cannot pay for drink and women with that.

I like the plan. It has lots of coloured arrows. It even has three maps! No clue what any of it means but it certainly looks pretty.

Re: Regular Monday SOW HITS games
Grandson has school today and I usually get home right about 19hrs to 1930hrs BST. Depending on how many sugar cane tractor we get behind. LOL
I will join ASAP if you must go on GO and let Roland be CINC and take my suicide command. LOL
On serious note with the lunatic complaining about no bottie or botties to be found in this scourge I suggest you let him secure the local animal population so he feels at home. We all know how a deranged lunatic acts when he does not feel as though he is on some ghastly self profiling quest.
I sugest El Jefe (the Sarcastic Austrian) gives him some advice and tell him to check the dark side of the moon.

We must dispatch the LUNATIC to see if there is "un lado oscuro de la LUNA". Please notice the similarity of LUNATIC and LUNA!

it's always good to see one's officers in a relaxed mood before the battle..
it's called: "the deep breath before the plunge!"
