Re: Regular Monday SOW HITS games
The scenario author created a situation where General Waldeck had absolutely no alternative than to soil his hands with a battle that produced nothing of value. He would have much preferred marching over the ridge and pay homage to the bishop's cathedral. No doubt many shiny gold objects would have been found and spirited away for safe keeping. A missed opportunity.

Re: Regular Monday SOW HITS games
This Monday's game will be a further test of Crikey's 1st Carlist War Mod. For this game we will use an updated version of the mod plus an enhanced map. The scenario has been designed for play vs the AI.
All welcome. I can proved links for mod & map, plus a more detailed briefing, to anyone who would like to join us. Here's a doodle http://doodle.com/mecvef2bsbx8a8q5

Background
It is 16.00 hours on 17th April 1835. The Carlist Ejército Realista del Norte has enjoyed some success in recent weeks. One of its corps has been advancing S down the Camino Albacete towards the city of that name (off-map to the S).
Special report for Carlists (Red) - Teniente General Bruno Villareal
The Camino Albacete forms the main LOC for both armies (see line of stars on the map). Your general objective is to secure it, and advance further S against Albacete itself.
Against orders, Vacas' Corps got prematurely involved in a battle for the village of Santa Leocardia this morning. You of course immediately concentrated the rest of the army in his support, but he reports that his corps is badly battered and will not be good for the rest of today at least.
You are facing the enemy Ejército Liberales del Ebro under General de Córdova. There are believed to be 3 corps in this area, numbered 1st, 3rd and 4th. Each corps is reported to have two divisions. Vacas believes he fought the 1st corps at Santa Leocardia. We held the village, and the enemy fell back to the south during the afternoon. The remaining enemy corps are un-located, but one or both remaining corps may well be on the way here.
Vacas is a highly respected general, who also has great influence at the Court of King Carlos, but you have got little sense out of him. He is clearly shaken, and does not even seem sure as to the exact deployment of his corps. He says he has lost a lot of men - he is not yet sure how many - and the remainder are tired and short of ammo. That said, he did hold the village, did drive off the Liberales, and there do seem grounds to hope that the enemy is in a bad way too.
Command
You will have gathered from the above that Vacas' Corps is in a poor state. From top to bottom. To reflect this, all troops in that corps (including Varcas himself) are under AI control. You can give Vacas and his divisional commanders orders, but please do not get involved below that level of command.

Any booty to be had in this battle? Please tell me this is more than just peasants with pitchforks chasing each other.

Since there are no treasures to be had besides eternal glory on the field, I think it may be time again for Feldzeugmeister Graf von Invictus to take command ...

The CinC must forgive me, I may be off hunting escudos. It's an old Spanish tradition.

Who?
Kevin, I see some huge gold stars laid along the highway. If I bring my set of crowbars to prise them up I'll split them 50/50 with you.
Sincerely Yours

Re: Regular Monday SOW HITS games
rascals.... the amateurs I have to deal with.... unbelievable
only two things you are entitled to hunt for on Monday: THE ENEMY and wenches for your Feldzeugmeister! - the hunt for anything else will be punishable by death - or in Kevin's case: no silverware for 25 years (and that was the mildest punishment I could come up with).
expect a detailed battle plan on Sunday evening... memorize it...
As always, when I'm in command we will win AS PLANNED!
in case you haven't heard it before: No enemy will survive contact with THE PLAN!

Hey Martin we can use El Lunatico's silverware to eat the fried bugs. Don't laugh but I spelt Chipisquitoes wrong, since I only heard the word spoken a few times by the local savages (My Wife, family and friends) It is called a pisquinte not a Chipisquitoes but since I failed english several times and can speak (ok mumble) a foreign language but still can't spell I don't feel so damn stupid, but hey stupid is better then called a lunatic.
pisquinte

Re: Regular Monday SOW HITS games
I am really running out of options for Mr Digby here... with Morsey I can at least say with around 97,4% percent certainty that he'll get his command killed - sometimes sooner - sometimes later - but usually around 10 minutes after having engaged the enemy....
Kevin I can easily get to attack - just talk about a treasure and ignore the messages stating "I am heavily engaged", "fighting for my life" here - cause undoubtably about 2 hours in the fight you will hear that he is finally about to commit his reserve brigade - so no worries there either...
Martin James - can't say - saw him last Monday for the first time in command of a division - he is a very fine brigade commander- that much I know for sure!
with you however I was stunned last time that you failed to destroy the truly inferior French cavalry, kept sending back false reports about their status and then claimed to have crushed them overall - right before 4 regiments took out at least 10 cannon....
so - that leaves me in a bit of a predicament: either I can assign you to support Morsey's Kamikaze Vanguard (should be about a 20 minute involvement in the fight - after that you can do anything - just leave the PC running...) or you can be Wagon Master General....cushy enough for you?
PS: if anyone wandered about my qualities.... I am below average when it comes to commanding troops - but a CinC can always count on me to follow orders... TO THE LETTER! - no matter the outcome!

Re: Regular Monday SOW HITS games
Pleased to know my role-playing skills are not getting too rusty. I like to keep you guessing, KS HITS would get predictable if I always behaved the same waywith you however I was stunned last time that you failed to destroy the truly inferior French cavalry, kept sending back false reports about their status and then claimed to have crushed them overall - right before 4 regiments took out at least 10 cannon....
I like to roll a dice before some of our Monday games
1 = incompetent, non-responsive moron
6 = Marshal Ney after snorting about 12" of the finest bath talc
There's a graduating ramp between those too extremes but I won't spoil the fun and give it away.
