Some of the paintings in the splash screens I didn't know. They are very nice.

Two hundred years of painting has produced some very nice artwork. It was hard to choose.

A new version of KS Napoleon Mod, (1.718) is out along with a new version of KS Supplemental Maps, (1.07). These updates include the new Cold Harbor map, (France). Much of the forest has been removed. Also a few of the errors which were found in the earlier version have been fixed.

don't be too generous to Kevin, Martin...
I may be impressed if he gets out a proper mod for SoW Waterloo by the 13th of June
in all seriousness now: I couldn't even think of playing without the mods - thanks a lot to all the modders indeed!

Technical question
First off, gentlemen, magnificent work. Tremendous improvement over the vanilla game.
I have it loaded and working and played around with a couple of scenarios to get the feel of it and it seems to work fine. However, when I go to see if I can host a game ( the main reason for getting SOW:W was so that my son and I could play it on direct hook up) I am getting a message which says:
Cannot Host There is more than 1 mod instance of csv files Disable extra mods. unitglobal.csv
Now, when I first got the error it referred to a different csv files and I went in and disabled Grog's Toolbar. That's when it gave me the error above. The only modifications checked are the 3 which the instructions said came with KS and have to be enabled or the game crashes at once.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure that you have only the KS Mods checked they others are not needed to use the KS mod.
Hope that works for you.

I had done that but you gave me an idea. I went in and removed Grog's Toolbar completely since it obviously does not work with KS anyway.
I cannot find any other instance of that file in the Mods folder. I then re-booted and tried it again and got the same message.
Weird. As far as I can see there is only one unitglobal.csv file in the mod folder and that is the one in the KS file.

Well if you only have the 3 KS mods activated as mods. (Please note the Vanilla Game campaign does not need to activated either). Then I would wait for Uncle Billy respond, he is the creator and guru of all thing KS.
I am sure you will get this worked out soon. I have had that same error along with others, I just can't remember exactly what caused it to come up.

That error means that you have two mods that use their own version of unitglobal.csv. The host can only have one version active. If you want to use the KS mod, you will have to disable the other one. What mods do you have listed on the Mods screen?

Re: Set Up for SOWGB NAPOLEON GAMES For Kriegspiel style
Checked are
KS Napoleon Mod II 122
KS SOW Supplemental Maps 114
KS Sprite Mod 103
Unchecked is something call Full_French_Campaign which I thought was just an OOB file and when I looked into it I did not see a unitglobal.csv file.
I have deleted Grog's Toolbar.

Re: Set Up for SOWGB NAPOLEON GAMES For Kriegspiel style
Well, this is interesting, Uncle Billy. Your reply got me curious so i did a search of my hard drive and found 3 instances of a file named unitglobal.csv.
1 in the Netserv directory in My Documents
1 in the QB directory under DLC
and
1 in the Logistics Directory in the Mods Folder where KS is located.
Then, while noodling around the site I saw where someone cast aspersions on the DLC file structure created for QB and had a sudden idea.
I deleted the unitglobal.csv file from QB and tried to load the multiplayer game.
It worked.
Now, I imagine I will be unable to play QB without restoring the file but I am off to try it out and will report back.

Re: Set Up for SOWGB NAPOLEON GAMES For Kriegspiel style
Well I stand corrected. QB worked fine even without the file in question.
Wiser minds than mine will have to explain to me WTF is going on here but everything seems to work.
(P.S. - Vanilla seems quite tame in comparison to KS.)

Glad to hear you got it working. I suppose tame is one word for the stock game. We have a few others.
Instead of deleting the QB unitglobal, you could just rename it. That way if you ever suffer head trauma and want to go back and play a vanilla game, you just restore the original name.

Re: Set Up for SOWGB NAPOLEON GAMES For Kriegspiel style
When I mentioned this to my son he pointed that even though QB does not appear under "Modifications" the QB scenarios do appear under "User Scenarios" so obviously there is some cross-pollination going on which is not obvious at first glance.
Add the information to the collective database for future reference. Good idea about changing the file name and restoring it even though it seemed to have no impact on QB at all. Very strange.

It will likely be that the QB scenarios will crash if you try to play them without that unitglobal file.

Re: Set Up for SOWGB NAPOLEON GAMES For Kriegspiel style
Yes, it was really clever of NSD and Matrix to make their DLC incompatible with any mods that use a unitglobal file. What I did was just make a Mod folder called Quatres Bras and dump all its files in there. Now QB is a mod like any other and you just turn it on or off as needed.

Re: Set Up for SOWGB NAPOLEON GAMES For Kriegspiel style
Gentlemen,
You both got me curious so I went in and took a look at the file. It's like a relic of something that someone started to do any quickly abandoned. It is 2k in size ( the other two files were both in excess of 300k ) and seems to be only the beginning of a line for Marshal Ney.
It had no effect when I deleted it and played a QB scenario. It's just freaking weird!

Re: Set Up for SOWGB NAPOLEON GAMES For Kriegspiel style
The QB file adds to the entries in the base unitglobal file. That's how the csv files work in general. It probably just adds the Prussian mounted Landwehr sprites. If you play a scenario that uses those, it will crash without that unitglobal file.

Technical question
Honestly, after playing KS for a few days I think the least of my problems will be a desire to return to the vanilla version.
One question did arise. Is there any way to upgrade some of the artillery in the KS scenarios? There seem to be a lot of 4-pdr pop guns. I'd like to upgrade the horse artillery to 6pdrs if possible. I quickly found the scenario file containing the OOB for the proper units but changes there do not seem to translate to the game. Or am I looking at the wrong file? BTW, we were looking at KSFrench 13.
The scenario editor politely tells me that it cannot find the path.

Re: Set Up for SOWGB NAPOLEON GAMES For Kriegspiel style
The file you need to mod is named scenario.csv. You'll need to change the name, class, ammo and headcount for each gun that you want to "upgrade".

Re: Set Up for SOWGB NAPOLEON GAMES For Kriegspiel style
To make it quicker and lower the chances of typos find a 6pdr horse artillery gun in another scenario and copy the relevant cells over.
Bear in mind though that the French did not begin to use 6pdrs in any great numbers until 1809ish and they never reached Spain in any significant numbers at all. The French army in Spain remained a 4pdr/8pdr one almost to the end.
If you make 4pdr horse batteries into 6pdrs you should also convert some 8pdr foot batteries to 6pdrs as well.
Most of this reorganisation work however occupies 1810 and 1811 when there was little combat in central Europe. The new artillery equipment shows up for 1812.
The redundant 4pdrs reappeared in 1812 as well as battalion guns in several cases to bolster the lower skills of the recruits used in the Grand Armee for the invasion of Russia so you could add in a 4pdr foot battery here and there even that late in the wars.
