Teamspeak Overlay Tutorial Empty Teamspeak Overlay Tutorial

Hi all

I remembered a nice optional feature of teamspeak which might be of good use in our online games. When using this overlay function there is no urgent need to set up whisper keys anymore, plus you can play the game in fullscreen mode and still see the teamspeak channels and even enter other channels in-game!

Teamspeak \ Settings \ Plugins
Activate the "TeamSpeak 3 Overlay plugin"

In the same screen, while having this plugin selected, go to Settings.
Under the Tab "Input" select a hotkey for the Plugin (e.g. "O" DO NOT select an alphabetic character as hotkey. Writing courier messages becomes a nightmare! Use a numerical key). The other settings are allright.

When in-game it should now look like this:

If you're also connected to a server, you will see the current channel name in the titlebar. The people in your current channel will also be displayed, most probably in a dark yellow colour. If someone starts talking, its color will change to a brighter yellow. Muted clients will be shown in green, whispering clients in red.

The initial position of the overly is overlapping with the SOW chat and target list. To reposition the overlay, press the overlay hotkey (e.g. "O" DO NOT select an alphabetic character as hotkey. Writing courier messages becomes a nightmare! Use a numerical key). A small popup will appear and you're able to drag the overlay elements around. Dragging the corners of the window will resize it.

The overlay comes in three different flavors, which I call 'minimal', 'normal' and 'full'. I recommend using 'full'.

In normal mode, you'll see the people in your current channel, no matter if they're talking or not. You can distinguish between talking and not-talking people by the colours. The minimal mode is just the same as normal mode, but you won't see any people that aren't talking. You can switch between the normal and the minimal mode by clicking the 'X'-button in the top right corner of the overlay.

The full mode is a tree view that shows all channels on the server. When the hotkey is pushed, you can switch between channels by a left double-click!

To reach the full mode, look for a (pretty small, 16x16) Teamspeak icon, which initially can be found in the bottom left corner of the screen (see red circle). The icon is transparent, so it might be a little bit hard to see. However, it will highlight, if you move the mouse cursor above it. Right clicking it will open up a context menu, where you can switch to full mode.

NSD announced that the next update will incluse some sort of REPLAY function. So it might be a way to still use the teamspeak overlay and create screenshots during the replay...
