Controls or Tutorial
I am wondering if there is a tutorial or a set of controls for this mod. I tried looking on you tube, but saw nothing that had this mod on it, only controls for the vanilla game.
I'm only new to the game and liked one of the aspects of the vanilla game where you could control all the units under a leader by selecting the leader, right clicking and selecting the required formation. That doesn't seem to be an option in the mod?
For a new player, what would be the best scenarios to try. There is a steep learning curve on this game and anything to reduce that would be appreciated
thanks

Re: Controls or Tutorial
Welcome to the forum.
The toolbar operates similarly to the stock game, however the controls are arranged in a much more intuitive manner, similar to SOWGB. To move a brigade, select the commander, click on the spot you want him and his men march to, (a yellow arrow will show up), then click on the formation you want the brigade to deploy into when they reach the destination. The brigade will then start to move to that location and deploy into the ordered formation when they get there.
You can do the same with an entire division.
I've not played any of the stock scenarios and therefore can't recommend any. I'd suggest playing one of the KS scenarios or a sandbox game, (corps sized battle), as a brigade commander. Follow the orders you receive and try to fight your unit as best you can. The AI opponent is pretty good. Once you are comfortable in handling a brigade, move up to a division command. Don't be discouraged if you are crushed your first few times in battle. That's a common result until you learn how to maneuver your troops and discover what can and cannot be reasonably expected of them.
The KS mod is a much more realistic presentation of Napoleonic warfare than the stock game, which is mostly SOWGB in fancy dress. As a result, cavalry and artillery are extremely dangerous. You'll find the artillery is especially brutal and very smart. It can wreck an exposed brigade in a short period of time. A frontal charge with infantry is suicidal early in a battle. When the AI uses its cavalry in conjunction with its infantry or artillery, you're going to have a very bad day if you can't drive them away with your guns or your own mounted troops.
Feel free to ask questions here as you learn to play the game. Someone will always be willing to help you.

Re: Controls or Tutorial
Joining us for an MP game is always a good way to learn; we have people who can 'tutor' you though your first game or two and you can take a small infantry brigade your first few times out.
Hello and welcome, by the way! Good to have you trying the mod.

Re: Controls or Tutorial
I cant seem to be able to get my units to travel down the roads?
Process is
1. Select unit leader
2. Select destination
3. Select use roads
Note that when i select the brigade leader select a location and then select roads, the unit leader is the only one the move, not the subordinate units. I've been trying lots of different combinations, but cant seem to get them to move on the roads
I've also noticed that the units immediately go into a formation that I select rather than go into the formation at the destination. Just wondering what I am doing wrong

Re: Controls or Tutorial
You need to set a formation after a destination is set, then hit the use roads button:
1. Select unit leader
2. Select destination
3. Select formation to assume upon arrival at destination
4. Select use roads
Think of the formation button as the commander issuing your order via him to his units. Your first sequence is just telling the brigade/division commander to move without his troops; clicking on a formation is the equivalent of clicking all units under his command.
At the top of the toolbars main button block there is a 'march' and a 'combat' tab, to have the units use march columns set the final formation using the button under the 'march' tab. If you set the formation under the 'combat' tab, the brigade or division will advance in combat (deployed) formation which looks impressive but for obvious reasons the formation ignores roads.
