Problem to log in multiplayer
Hello,
I must be stupid but I don't manage to find the solution in any forum.
I want to start multiplayer game but I can't create an account. It always says: "Invalid username" or most of the time "Username is already taken". I tried to use below 7 characters name, with only small characters, but it still doesn't work. I can't create a new account.
When I come back to the multiplayer menu later, the account name and password are still saved, but it doesn't help.
Then, I cannot enter the lobby and create any battle. It is really a pity to be unable to play in multiplayer.
Do you know how to proceed ?

For MP, it is best to avoid the lobby entirely and join by direct IP. Playing via the lobby is very unstable.

OK thanks.
But I guess that I still need to create an account to host a game, am I correct ?
In addition, what is the method the host a game directly without going through the lobby ? This tutorial only proposes hosting game with the lobby

Re: Problem to log in multiplayer
You only need to have a user name and account name. Do not press the create new account button.
First, the host has to open the UDM port 31791 in his router.
Go to the SOWWL MP page.
If you are the host, put your IP address in the appropriate box. Put the port number 31791 in the port number box. Press the host button
If someone else is hosting, then he has to give all the players his IP address. Make sure you have the port number 31791 in the port box. Then press the join button.

Re: Problem to log in multiplayer
Hello everyone,
Sorry for hijacking this post for my own gains but I am having similar struggles within my SoW player group. Been getting a lot of new players for both SoW:G, and SoW: W and most have no issue joining the multiplayer games. However, we have two gentlemen in particular who break the norm on that one. One gentleman, despite having the relevant port opened, is unable to host servers for anyone else, i.e. we can not join him no matter what. That would not be so bad if he could at least join us. However, whenever he attempts to join anyone else (and yes, most of us have the UDM Port 31791 open) he is unable to connect. He can join one player (who has no idea about opening ports and therefore has refused to do it so far) on occasions but of course, that limits us severely as that individual is rarely available and has a fairly unstable internet connection. Another issue this gentleman encounters is the "Connection to NAT server accepted, Connected to NAT server" issue where it appears as if he was able to connect to a game but then no other players appear in the player list. We have been trying everything at this point to get this to work as we are planning on running a campaign for both Waterloo and Gettysburg within our community. Any advice would be appreciated, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you so much for reading my post and have a good and safe day in these strange times

Hi Lemuel.
He needs to do port forwarding on his router if he wants to host the games. I'm not sure why he can't join the games - his connection must have strange set up.
To be sure, forward both TCP/UDP on 31791.

Re: Problem to log in multiplayer
All players should set their port number to 31791 on the multi-player screen. If a player still can't join, perhaps his anti-virus software is blocking his access. I recall long ago that some AVs were very SOW unfriendly.
