John Acs, who used to host games at his house, has very kindly offered to start doing so again now that his refurbishment work is nearing completion.

If we take him up on this, the first game at his house in Hemel Hempstead would probably be that in April 2012.

If we do this, we would obviously save the charge for the hall (currently £30 per session). The obvious downside is that holding games at John's, or indeed at anyone else's house, would mean we are more constrained in terms of space.

Thoughts anyone?

Kind offer.

My view is that the cost of the hall is minimal. The layout alows secrecy for players whilst permittinga good level of social interaction away from players areas.
A private house tends to lack this flexibility.
Cost of venue is not an issue for me.

For the flexibility and sociability i therefore favour gaddesdon.

For me, the village hall IMO allows greater flex and for me the cost is OK.

There is an option for people to sit outside in the sun that we have not used as we could I guess use the little garden area attached.

Having people all in same room also helps as people can feel isolated in a bedroom with no one else to talk to.

Obviously if the cost escalates at any stage then we might have to look at the question again. However with the UK economy the way it seems I doubt the hall will be able to raise charges without loss of rental income....

Just my 2p

I suppose I ought really reserve judgement until after the 23rd and my first visit to the Hall but I think the point about being hidden away in a bedroom is a good one, not only at John's but going right back to the old days round Bill's!
