Self edited USA contour - topographical maps
Self edited USA contour/topographical maps are possible with the TOPOUSA 8.0 package supplied by DELORME SOFTWARE and available secondhand and cheap through Amazon here

Maps for Kriegsspiel - including some of ACW battlefields
Seekers of tactical scale maps for FTF play will find a number of promising ones (some unnamed, some with US placenames) here
Many other maps both tactical and strategic, some of which have already been used for KS games, are found here

Re: Self edited USA contour - topographical maps
I used those Austrian maps for an extended campaign I did a few years back (I've written about that elsewhere on the forum). They worked out pretty well for larger scale movements, but the scale was just a tad too big when we wanted to fight battles where basic units were squadrons and battalions. I used differnt smaller tactical maps at that point. But this is a great resource.
