Maps of Spain wanted - Franco era
A request for assistance. I am interested to know if there is a series of maps that would be useful for grand tactical level games from the Franco era
Any assistance appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Maps of Spain wanted - Franco era
How good is your Spanish?
This is a link to a history of maps and cartographers in the Spanish Civil War. Looks like there were several series of 1:50000 maps made by both side during the war. https://www.ign.es/ign/resources/acercaDe/libDigPub/Mapas_GuerraCivil.zip
Also, this link is an interactive archive at the Spanish National Geographic Institute. On the left, click the button that says "minutas". Then zoom in on the map and click where you want a map. Then click on "descarga" on the left. That will open a window with downloadable links to zipped old maps from that region. The year will be indicated in the title. The "MTN50" function seems to be more of what you are looking for, but most don't seem to be available. Recommend just playing with and seeing what you can find.

Many thanks, finding the 1:50000 scale ones is likely to be the challenge.

The site has changed
The 83 Civil War maps can be found here: https://ddd.uab.cat/collection/mapesgce?ln=es (and set the language to English).
The 50,000 scale maps from the middle of the 20th Century can be found in the original link but I now go direct to the download site.
Identify the map you want from this index map and note the map number
http://centrodedescargas.cnig.es/CentroDescargas/documentos/cuadricula_MTN50.png
Go to the download site
http://centrodedescargas.cnig.es/CentroDescargas/catalogo.do?Serie=MIPAC#
Select the Buscar tab.
On the left side in the segment "Mapas impresos escaneados" select "MTN50 edición impresa"
On the right side select the tab HOJA MTN50 and enter the map number in the box then click BUSCAR.
This brings up a list of files usually showing a Year in column Fecha. Download the file by clicking on the icon in the Descagar column.
The downloaded file is a zip file and you will find the JPG file within the zip folder.
