GCM WL game scheduled
Adding link here in case people want to go over there for a game. They are using the latest KS Mod but not HITS (I don't think). Officer radius may be around 50-100 yds which I think is their usual setting. Would be good for some of us to go over and show solidarity in the MP community. The timeslot is probably too late for our Eu players though.

Re: GCM WL game scheduled
I have scheduled a SOW Waterloo game GCM style for Sunday the 14th at 8pm New York time. This is just me and we will have some GCM players, but I am not sure how many. Waterloo with all of its quirks has not taken off very well over at the GCM community. This is my attempt to try to get some more play out of it.
Everyone is invited. KS mod with GCM rules.
NYC - can you remind me of the GCM rules please?
20:00 EST may be a bit late for me but I'll try to be there.
This is a great initiative - thanks.
I wish more GCM guys who own WL would come join our games but maybe they are not into HITS + couriers.

GCM is 120 to 160 yard radius. With open chat among same team. We have played a few couriers only games lately.
In my opinion, the problem is with SOW Waterloo. It is a bust. The KS mod does make it playable, but Norb shot himself in the foot with this one. No one has bought Quatre Bras, not even Palmer.

Re: GCM WL game scheduled
I think WL is an acquired taste. The original interface was just a disaster... that is what wrecked the game for everyone who was used to GB. But in addition cavalry was poorly implemented and the effects of artillery were very poor. Yes the KS Mod makes it a better game but even as a KS Mod veteran player I still find myself fighting that god awful interface almost as much as I fight my enemy.
120 to 160 yds is okay with me.
Do you guys not enjoy couriers? Unfortunately I think you'll find that without them plus the higher camera view, cavalry's influence will be terribly reduced since it will be so easy for infantry to form square.

Ditto. I tried to stay awake but it was too late in the night for me.
NYC - on Sundays do you think you could pitch games earlier in the day so that European players can participate?

Re: GCM WL game scheduled
I was absolutely shocked by the lack of lag. There were well over 160,000 troops on that map at the end. Didn't notice in game, but after seeing the replay the Prussians were about to sweep the French from the right. Vandamme's Corps from Wavre was just sitting on the edge of the map. I had no clue that part of Grouchy's command would show.

Was it the Waterloo map? Have you a replay or any screenshots?

It was the Waterloo map. The French took both, La Haye Saint & Hougomont. I'll send you some of pics.

Re: GCM WL game scheduled
Thanks for the players who came over and for those who wanted to. I am trying to judge interest on the GCM side as it pertains to Waterloo. I have been saying for some time that I'd like to get some more play out of it. If I get some good feed back from the CGM side then I will try to schedule some more games.
Yesterdays game was a pick up game in every sense of the word. Next time I'll try for more structure.
As far as the battle, I had a very good time. Waterloo with the ks mod in MP has a lot of potential. It was a flat out mess, in a good way, and I hope to do it again soon.

I'm pleased to hear it sounds like a success. Apologies I couldn't make it. Might I suggest you pick a smaller battle in future? We usually play corps vs corps (3 to 4 divisions a side). A division command, as in GB seems to be a nice amount of troops to throw about yet keep a good reserve. You can also try to have one division as entirely cavalry or issue each infantry division a cavalry brigade, both strategies work and give fun battles.
As Mike says, Kevin's scenario generator is a very useful bit of kit.
