Re: SOW Scenario Generator
The only thing I changed was the name of the scenario to "0-test" so that it appeared at the top of the list and I didn't have to go hunting for it. It never made any difference in the past.
I'll make up another test scenario and see if it happens again.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
So I just tried it again and got the same result. For some reason it is suddenly looking to create the oob names file which I have done before and I know that is a different program.
Do you think it might be because I am using an open source office suite to read the spreadsheets instead of Excel? That's the only change I can think of.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
I'm guessing you have not given the program admin privileges so it cannot create a temporary file.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
So, I never did get around to trying to figure out how to give the program admin privileges but I was getting annoyed because Win !0 kept telling me that I did not have "permission" to move or delete a file and since I am the only user on this machine that made no goddamn sense at all.
So I looked up how to fix "permissions" on Win 10 and followed the procedure. It worked and to my great surprise when I tried to run the Starlocs app it worked. Someone who understands Win 10 better than I do will have to figure out what the hell was going on. I am happy that it worked and am willing to call it a "miracle."

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
I've read the security features on Win10 are pretty annoying. Given that MS will be charging a monthly fee for Win 10 soon, maybe you should consider installing Win7.

They aren't supporting 7 any longer. That was a super product.

It's supported until Jan. 2020.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
It seems that the reports of charging for Win 10 are a little overblown. Its some kind of special business service.

While Microsoft will not be charging everyone a subscription-style fee to use Windows 10, that option will be there for businesses. For those who go with it, they will also be getting hardware.
So unless you are running a business and choose to go that route, you can breathe a sigh of relief.
That all seams reasonable enough, yet there was still some confusion and panic over what people thought was happening. Why was that?
It started when Microsoft Managed Desktop began to make the rounds online. From there all it took was a couple of people misunderstanding what it was -- either by accident or in the hopes of earning some extra website clicks -- and away the rumor went.
But no, Microsoft is not replacing Windows 10 as we know it with the subscription service.

By the way, the 10 Mile German GB map is quite nice. The fields of sunflowers are very colorful!

Can't have too many sunflowers. If you're lucky, you may see van Gogh beavering away in one of them.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Version 1.50 has been uploaded. It allows the scenario designer to set the initial division formations with the generator. Also a game type entry has been added which helps a little when the designer wishes to implement the KS battlescripting for an MP scenario.
The manual has been updated and explains the additions in greater detail. The download link is in the first post of this thread.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Yes, we build almost all our scenarios using this and it was updated very recently.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Kevin, would it be possible to tweak the scenario generator so that a division that has only cavalry brigades in only gets allocated horse batteries (if there's any in the OOB) and a division that has only infantry brigades in only gets allocated foot batteries?

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
I think for the KS OOBs it would be possible since all the horse batteries have the string HART in the commander's class name.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
That would be good; would save some tweaking about after a scenario has been generated with taking foot batteries out of cavalry divisions, etc.
I suppose an infantry division MIGHT have a horse battery, but its unlikely.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
I've uploaded a new version of the scenario generator, (version 1.52). The download link is in the first post of this thread.
The new features include:
1. Division with just cavalry and artillery will have only horse batteries attached.
2. Division with just infantry and artillery will have only foot batteries attached.
3. Odd sized maps such as Crikey's Lace War maps will now have the divisions placed in the proper locations.
4. The size of the map is listed underneath the map name. This will help the scenario designer when placing the divisions on the map.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Have you really enabled scripting for MP? Fantastic.
I've been off sailing a U-boat around the Atlantic for a few months but I may have to get back into KS now!

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Yes, there is a smaller set of instructions that can be used for MP scripting. There is a manual in the KS Napoleon mod.

How did you overcome the limitation with the clock on MP saves?

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
You'll have to modify the battlescript for restarts as described in the manual. It's pretty simple.
