If we can't muster the numbers necessary to fight the Battle of Santander, I've put together the following scenario.

Battle of Santander Replacement Initia19

The uneasy lull in the recent unpleasantness between France and Austria seems to have come to an end.  Marching up from the southeast, an Austrian corps under command of Feldmarschall von Hohenzollern-Hechingen ejected the French light cavalry out of Walkenberg and has deployed into a line of battle.  Elements of Maréchal Lefebvre's VI Corps is holding the vital crossroads at Malersdorf.  Loss of this road junction would allow Austrian depredations to the French army's rear.  The Emperor won't stand for this.

The Austrians have their own worries.  The Feldmarschall's supply depot is located at Hofau.  It's loss and destruction would force a rather hasty retreat south for 2. Korps.  A depot garrison has remained behind to guard against any marauding French cavalry.

This 3 hour battle will be fought on the Chancellorsville East map.  Everyone will need the Chancellorsville expansion.  In addition the three mods, KS Sprite Mod 1.00, KS Supplemental Maps 1.06 and the KS Napoleon Mod 1.715 are also needed.

The forests have been mostly removed from this map.  Do not use the ground color to decide what is forest and what is not.  Only the presence of trees denote wooded terrain.

The armies are within artillery range of each other.  Guns will start to unlimber as soon as the scenario begins.

As usual, no scouting more than 200-250 yd in front of your troops is allowed.

We will need a minimum of 6 players for a 2 sided game and 3-4 players for co-op.

If we can muster 6 players today, we'll play this scenario. If not, we'll save it for next weekend. Based on the Santander sign-up we should start the game at 20:30 BST. People who haven't played in the last couple of weeks should try to arrive early to make sure they have everything up to date.

I can start at any time. I was just trying to accommodate the most people. We can make it the usual 19:30 BST if people prefer.

we should start when most people are available - completely agree with you - question remains how many will show up after last night's fight - but that is another matter.. Smile

I would not call it a fight but a heated discussion with side of jalapenos and it might burn for a few hours afterwards until it gets flushed away. Then we will all be ready to fight again today! Suspect

What was the result of this after I had to leave? Any chance anyone could send me the battle replay?

Cheers

as for the fight overall: with an uncoordinated attack happening the two eastern divisions got badly mauled by massed French troops - I was left with 2300 men and 5 cannon at the end of the match...(but up 3500 points  Twisted Evil )
Kevin's division never really engaged - simply because the AI was chasing the other two divisions -at least he managed to take out some guns- which were facing us...

so all in all an AI victory I believe... at least at the end of the fight - if it had gone on it may have turned into a human victory - since Kevin's division was pretty much completely fresh and I was on my way to meet up with him... yes - I know - we won points wise... but I think maybe 3/7 of the French forces were still intact- maybe more...

not sure if Morsey had any troops left....in the replay it looks like not a lot...

With a little help from the artillery, Tom did a great job taking out the enemy cavalry with his own. Too bad he didn't have an opportunity for an encore with the cuirassiers.

It was an outright Allied victory, don't mess with my 3 and 0 record of forced CinC record Roland. bounce

My gallant and brave troops sacrificed themselves and put the Frenchmen into a trance and they followed them of the field of battle and they left the OBJ unprotected so that Kevin aka I will get they just in time to save your bacon could stroll onto the battlefield and claim he won.

Roland did a fine job with is initial repeal of the biblical infestation of frogs to his front but failed when he loudly spoke these words in French with a touch of an Austrian accent.

"Look over there more bad guys" and the whole hoard of frogs ran over and beat my fine boys to pulp. As Roland just sat there with his beaten to a pulp army and watched.

As always tons of fun. Tom did the a great job at keeping Kevin out of the brothels and other place of ill repute so I suspect that is why Kevin showed up 15 minutes early to the battle.

As always a great time!
