Re: Readymade Kriegsspiel "blocks"
I received my block shipment yesterday and spent the evening inventorying and gloating over them! They are every bit as good as the photos and everyone's reports! No, I take that back ... they're better than the photos and reports!! Thank you very much, Tom!
Now I'm looking forward to getting familiarized with the K-S rules, map useage, etc, so I can begin my campaign. I have CC3 now and am in the process of working through map basics, learning the UI, etc. It is quite a wonderful program, but a bit expensive. Not the program itself, but the add-ons and extras. The add-ons and extras contain so much interesting and good information and new styles and icons ... I just cannot resist ... Very well done and useful. I hope to have some tactical K-S maps done as well as a campaign map or two.

Re: Readymade Kriegsspiel "blocks"
I have just seen this post and may well be interested in these blocks. Perhaps we KS folks in the UK (I believe that this is a US vendor) could place a bulk order?
Also what is CC3? "Combat Command"? Where do I find out about it?
Thanks ...
Richard

Re: Readymade Kriegsspiel "blocks"
"CC3" = Campaign Cartographer 3 from Profantasy and it's a map-making program and a lot more. Here is their url : http://www.profantasy.com/default.asp. The programs, etc are available in download form and there are video tutorials on youTube and there's a link to them at the CC site. There is a learning curve but with the tutorials and the .pdf format manual it's not too difficult. You'll also want to get the Annual for 2008 - IIRC; it's the one with "Napoleonic Mapping" - as that annual has mapping stuff that will fit with KS battle maps.

My apologies. That's what happens when I don't look up the referenced items. Thank you for the correction, Ian.

Re: Readymade Kriegsspiel "blocks"
These look nice - can you tell me the difference between the Starter Set, and the Deluxe Starter Set (apart from +$10)?
Cheers,

The only difference is the unit numbers (the text on the block, not numbers of blocks) Doh! Just reread my post.. It is the same set other than that. I have had some that wanted the numbers and others that did not.
thank you,
Tom
Web Site Back up
Hello all I have my web site back up. It is again at photoncutterstudios.com. It should also be easier to use.
Glad to hear it!
Good news indeed. I was worried that you were no longer around until James Sterrett explained the issues you were having. Glad your back up as I'll be sending an order your way later this week.PhotonCutterTome wrote:Hello all I have my web site back up. It is again at photoncutterstudios.com. Re: Readymade Kriegsspiel "blocks"
Is it possible to buy a ready-made set of KS blocks?
I am planning to play an actual game with a friend here in town and was wondering if I could escape actually making them.

I found this resource.
http://www.irregularminiatures.co.uk/indexes/miscindex.htm
Anything else like it? I'm in the USA. I don't mind buying from the UK, but I understand the post is a bit sluggish?

To be honest I think the photoncutterstudios ones look the best of anything I've ever seen.Father General wrote:I found this resource.

Deluxe KS set from Tom at Photon Cutter Studios
Just received my Deluxe KS set from Tom at Photon Cutter Studios.
They took a little while to come across the pond, and seem to have been delayed somewhat by my friends in the British Customs & Excise, judging by the number of official stamps and labels plastered over the envelope. No accompanying demands for VAT or excise duty, however, so obviously the EU and US bureaucrats have agreed in civilised manner to have free trade in Kriegsspiel blocks .
The blocks look great, and I will be taking some photos and posting them here with a proper review shortly.

Re: Readymade Kriegsspiel "blocks"
Yes, they really do look good. You seem to have enough pieces for quite large forces. How much did the set cost?
