Scenario files distributed, it's time to go.
I have sent copies of the scenario to Mitra, who I think will be hosting and a backup copy to Digby. I don't expect Digby to host, but in the event I don't make it and something happens with Mitra, someone still has the file ready to go.
Try to get into the lobby as early as you can and test your connection so we can launch on-time.
Good luck and have fun!

Mitra suggested getting onto TS at least 1 hour before start time so he can test everyone's set-up.

Just a thought re cavalry. If any could be present for today's game, it would probably be an idea to let folks know whether it's Type 1 (the charging kind) or Type 2. I think both sides would have known that historically.
This may not apply. I'm a floater so have little idea about either sides OOB.

I would hope that for ACW games we use the non-charging type, things can become a bit gamey and unhistorical otherwise.

I'm unaware of any different types. Everything in game is fairly standard, as I suppose.
My experience with cavalry is that they are useless except for scouting and occasionally harassing a flank or slowing down the enemy. If we identify an issue that allows gaminess, perhaps I can correct it between battles. But I'm sure we will all play fair and avoid antics.

Digby's right, Neal. Which is why I asked.
The default game setting for the cavalry is 'Type 1' which allows them to charge formed infantry, and often quite effectively. Historically, ACW cavalry hardly ever charged infantry, and when they did they almost invariably came of worst.
I have found that Type 1 cavalry will sometimes charge without any player order to do so. I think they do this when enemy infantry move within their auto-charge range.
The way to change this is to convert them to 'Type 2', which will charge wagons, guns (and very occasionally poor morale infantry). Rather confusingly, you do this by putting a '1' against the cavalry regiment in the OOB Mod column of the OOB.

Re: Scenario files distributed, it's time to go.
Perhaps Mitra can check the scenario files and make any edits needed before we play? I've seen ACW type 1 cav act like Napoleonic cuirassiers before now which is definitely not what we want and as Martin says, often the player commanding them cannot prevent this ahistorical activity, so asking players not to do this may not be enough to prevent problems.
Baylor complained a month or two back over his infantry getting smashed by mounted cav charges in one scenario we played so we really should try to avoid this if we can.
