Hmm just seen the membership costs of that service, not an option for us as they lock down the Free version and what you can do with map table...
But that feature is the sort of thing you want for umpires, and even players...

Hmm and after thinking about it more you could just use a Net meeting and share the desktop with a map on it use Powerpoint or a simple graphics package....
Anyway just some random ramblings...

OK more research has thrown up...
http://roll20.net/
Which is free so gets over cost issue.
Then there is also
http://andrewchason.com/web/TableTopForge/index.php
Which again is being developed to tie into Google Hangouts which is another VOIP site like Skype...
Lots of options out there that I have never thought of. The World of RPG's could offer some useful tools...

Re: KS at Orccon 2014
Hi All,
Long time lurker here, have always wanted to play this game, but it seems like being on the east coast, I'm equidistant from you folks in the UK and the group in California. I still hold out hope to organize a Kriegsspiel game in my area; it seems to me to be the nirvana of war games as far as realism goes.
Anyway, I wanted to chime in on the Google Docs topic. I set this sheet up a while back when I was attempting to get some of my wargaming friends interested (never took off unfortunately): EDIT: Unfortunately, I can't post this link since I am a "new member". I will post it in a few days, or if an admin will allow it, sooner.
It's a small ACW scenario that I was going to test. As you can see, I have the whole command structure laid out, and each unit down to the regiment has a cell for orders from its commander.
The idea is that multiple players (on the same team) could edit the sheet in real time (entering orders in the "Order Details" cells), and the umpire could then resolve the orders and enter the results in the "Response" cells.
Of course, this type of sheet could be edited for whatever scale and era you would like. Let me know what you guys think, the sharing is set up for view only right now, but it can be set up so that all players on a team as well as the umpire could have access.
Best Regards,
Ossel

Hi Ossel
Welcome to the group.
This sounds like an excellent idea, which would be useful in all sorts of games. Please do post it as soon as you can.

Yes can see the XLS and having a central method of inputting orders is very useful and google docs is a nifty way to do that.
I have been running a forum game where I take orders written down free form but I can see using a google doc would help.
I think the use of the WWW has moved on to make such games easier to do.
However, the key is getting people on line at same time or ensuring orders are given in timely manner. I have struggled with the forum game with drop outs and some false starts with replacements. I hope to reach a resolution with it but it is not going as fast as I had hoped...
