Title says it all. I'm available for a KS battle Saturday, either of the ACW or Nappy variety. Meet on the KS Teamspeak. Time can vary if it is more suitable for others.

I hope to make this one. Either is good for me but I am itching to put together an MP Nap Fraps recording, so it would be my preference.

I have work the next morning (on the night the clocks go forward 1hr) so the earlier start is best.

I hope the person who designed this clock jumping died in some miserable way. I thought you folks already changed your clocks. Good to know or else I would have shown up an hour late. So just to be clear, Saturday 19:30GMT is 15:30EST, 14:30CST and 13:30 MST. Correct?

In Italy the daylight hour start the night between Saturday and Sunday, so Saturday is still winter hour.

I'm planning to play. Like Grog I would quite like to try Napoleonic again, but happy to play ACW if that's what the majority would rather do.

In the UK we officially change the clocks at 02:00 on the Sunday morning, I believe.

I don't know how this will equate to the US time zones.

Ok, I had to readjust the times. I think it's right now.

Have hit internet problems, so looking doubtful for today's game. An engineer is promised by Virgin, but not until Monday.

I do have some connectivity, and connection appears stable, but is slow. Does anyone have a feel for the minimum mdownload speed I could get away with in MP, assuming all else is good?

The game will run with almost any connection speed. However, if the host computer has to resend too many packets to someone, it tends to drop them. Give it a try. You can always drop if it looks like your computer is retarding progress. By the way, this smells of a domestic conspiracy. Evil or Very Mad

I agree, it was a great fight. The cavalry really adds a new dimension to the battles.

I was on the left flank and decided to attack the weak enemy line there. My men rushed up and captured a couple of guns. The enemy cavalry advanced on my men. They formed squares. Friendly cuirassiers charged past my men to attack the enemy cavalry. The enemy brought up more guns into canister range and began blasting my squares. Cuirassiers gallop back to reform. Enemy hussars charged headlong and attacked my squares. I fled to the center of one while my regiments mauled the foolish cavalry. The cuirassiers flew past again to capture those guns damaging my squares and drove off the remaining hussars. It was pure chaos.

With the cavalry threat gone, my brigade was able to form lines once again and participate in slow almost serene, by comparison, infantry fight. As is usually the case, it is the infantry action that determines the outcome of the battle. The redcoats formed on a slight rise and could not be pushed away. Their weight of numbers slowly made itself felt and we were forced to yield the field of honor. Those filthy merchants from across the the channel even took our soft cheese and wine. Crying or Very sad

The one thing we did learn in this battle is that cavalry need to be commanded by a dedicated division commander. It doesn't work well if he is the corps or army commander with other responsibilities. He needs to be close by his men. Commanding from afar doesn't work as they are very hard to manage.

Yes, I'd be up for a game this evening - any time suggestions? Our clocks have gone forward now.

A great battle gentlemen and a very scarey affraid initiation for me to MP Command.

The armies found each other relatively quickly and lined themselves up on hills either side of a stream and began an artillery duel. The British were quick to deploy and held the initiative, whilst I galloped around trying to decide if and where to attack.

Kevin reported a push on our left flank with artillery and light cav escort, which seemed somewhat exposed. When he suggested we attack here, I was happy to support with the heavy cav reserve to support his flank. Thus ensued a mixed encounter which Kevin describes very well.

I agree that cav are ideally best served by a human player, although I believe Hays was able to keep our cav in check with a Probe order to his Cav division commander for some of the time.

I got unnecessarily sucked into the battle our left commanding the cav (sorry fellas Embarassed ) but it was great fun and I was very interested in testing out the cavalry arm in combination with an inf attack. Ultimately, I squandered our finest Cuirassiers against an enemy flank commander who exhibited greater skill and prudence.

I recorded the game with Fraps and will be posting an edited movie soon. Unfortunately, the centre and French right flank action will not be represented because of the Commander's love of polished breastplates Laughing

Hehe. Nice Very Happy

Here's some footage from the game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhaYwdAy7bU

I did spend much of my afternoon editing together a movie but found that my files all became corrupted. Prob too much cutting. I might have to try a different program, Windows movie maker is free but has let me down before.

There is some nice footage in there. It shows just how chaotic the fight becomes when cavalry is thrown into the mix. I didn't realize the Brits had recaptured many of their guns and those were the ones ruining my fine squares. I thought they had rolled up another battery.

The combined operations of cavalry and infantry vs cavalry and artillery made for a fight where I was completely out of my depth. Everything moves much more quickly, more reaction than planning. I've never experienced that in an ACW battle.

The interplay between Inf, cav and Art is a major factor for this period to be fave.

I think this action showed this quite well and I agree, it is a whole new ball game.

I was certainly out of my depth but I really like these early games where we are all learning the hard way and having great fun doing so.

All seemed to be going well on this flank until I started pulling back my cav to reform, then the Brit L cav counter charged and retook the guns and exposed Kevin's inf.

The marching squares looked great and lancers looking down from the hill, menacingly, waiting for the chance to pounce.

Awsome!
