Campaign update 12/6
The inaugural campaign of the Western Campaign, Thunder in the Shenandoah is drawing down.
After several discussions with the principals involved, we have decided to wrap up the campaign after a final series of moves. Those moves will result in a climatic final battle that will permit all members of the campaign to see the elephant. I anticipate that it may be the largest single MP battle yet attempted by this group.
You will need the Pipe Creek map pack to participate.
Over the next couple days, I will be posting side-secific updates that will being you up to speed on what's happening in the campaign.
At the conclusion of the battle, the winning side will be announced by myself.
Don't squander your men!
Because after this battle, the Western Campaign will continue in the context of a new chapter. Your units will carry over, although all players will have the opportunity to switch sides and so on. You can take your units with you, if you like, or start fresh with green troops. Or keep your ocmmand and fight with the benefit of improved experience. Yout titles will also follow you if you remain on the same side. You also keep your promotions and weapon upgrades.
There will be an intervening period where the improved ruleset will be discussed and finalized. I encourage you to participate in that discussion. The more discussion we have up front, the easier life will be later. Clear agreements, good friends, as the saying goes.
Also, while I will umpire the second chapter if I must, I would be very excited to see another player step up and carry the Baton of Absolute Power. *snicker* I would enjoy playing commander at some point. The Father General has heard of General Georgia's sins and is bent on administering punishment followed by a fair trial for the man...
Oh those poor, poor sisters in the convent at New Market!
Stay tuned, we're just warming up!

I would like to suggest that we do something different next and that someone else umpires.Father General wrote:Because after this battle, the Western Campaign will continue in the context of a new chapter. I have been thinking about continuing my own Roamoak Valley campaign after this one is finished.
The Valley map can be reused, but say several years later with different forces.

Oh I think Neal did a fine job considering all the carping he's had to put up with. I don't blame him for wanting to detach from that tar baby. And now it seems Briar Digby has latched onto it. Good show.

Thank you, Neal, for a very enjoyable campaign. Your patience in the face of much carping and almost Jesuit 'debate' has been beyond the call of duty.

Neal should, without a doubt, continue to umpire.

I thought we all agreed on that during our last week "Anonymous Father General Haters" meeting.
I think he did a great job and thought he enjoyed it too. Two ingredients for successful umpireship I'd say.

The campaign is how I flagellate myself for the sins of this group.
"Oh Providence, they know not what they do, mea culpa, mea culpa...Κύριε, ἐλέησον..."

Dammit, I was actually hoping to play this. I don't have Pipe Creek, nor can I afford it.

It's $10 on Matrix. Is that still too difficult? I understand, especially this time of year.
I think all you need to do is buy the license/key. You download the add on from the site.

Re: Campaign update 12/6
$10 is $10 that I don't have. As a teenager whose parents refuse to let them get a job, I'm a bit...dependent on my parents for money for games, you see? And when I ask my mother to lend me $10 to play a video game she's never heard of with people she doesn't know, she isn't exactly the most...trusting. Hell, I got SoW because a friend bought it for me for my 15th birthday, back in August.
In short...it's a non-negotiable for me.

I'm going to offer Saturday. Do you have any availability on Saturdays?

Re: Campaign update 12/6
If the game is that day, I won't be able to play on Saturday, visiting relatives for Christmas. Sunday, however, would work for me.
