While I'm sympathetic to maintaining the integrity of fog of war limited intelligence, I wonder how practical it is with the new SoW replay -- available to everyone with a click of the mouse -- and even the standard end-of-game reports. More detail on the enemy is available from these features than you'd get from having a spy with perfect clandestine access to Lee's or McClellan's internal reports during the ACW, or through the AAR's being written for the Campaign.

I disagree. Apart from the slip about Weathers' brigade, which I didn't notice until you pointed it out, I don't see what's so terrible about the AARs. Your comparison with a free roving camera is way over the top, IMO.

A suggestion: those of us who are enjoying the AARs carry on as we have been and those who want to maintain absolute ignorance of anything they haven't witnessed abstain from reading them.

Well, if I umpire another campaign they won't be allowed to be read by anyone who wasn't involved in the battle (and on the same side) until a reasonable time has passed and the news has become public. It'll only delay them a while, its not a suggestion to stop them completely. Its not like its necessary to have them go public at once.

Same with posting up videos of the replays.

AARs destroy the aim of what we're doing here in my view.

As to players watching the replays privately, and the games post-battle information, we trust to player integrity on that score.
