G/burg Friday 16th November at 19.30 UK Time
Keen to play MP this coming Friday if others would like to as well.
Have just downloaded Chancellorsville, which does look very nice, so would be happy to play on one of those maps. Or indeed on any other.

I'm up for a game on the Salem's Church map. I played a solo corps level game tonight and ended up fighting in the city of Fredericksburg. Lots of fun.

The Salem Church map is a great mix of terrain, and a real work of art. Just about the best produced for the game so far IMHO.
Yes I'd love to try a MP game on that.

And the Rappahanock river isn't the insurmountable obstacle like the Potomac is on the Antietam map - there's a couple of islands that make fording it easier, plus several pontoon bridges laid at various places (I've found 3 so far). If our army started on the wrong side of the river, just finding and negotiating a crossing point and forming a bridgehead would be a fun exercise.

That's good Mitra. Hopefully more folks will sign-up during the week.
If no one objects, I would like to try hosting this one.
Based on advice from dear old Hays, I have recently installed a pair of powerline adaptors, instead of relying on a wireless connection. As far as I can see, this have given me a much more stable connection, and an effective 30-40 meg download speed. It would be nice to test that in the heat of combat however.

I hope to be able to play on Friday. I have Chancellorsville and have just played a couple of SP scenarios. Has anyone tried the midnight attack? Nightmare!
edit - I've e-mailed you Martin, as I could play now if you are around.

I'd be up for playing on Friday. I've been out of action for a bit because I've had to purchase a new computer after my previous motherboard decided it was time to die on me. I'd be happy to take any role, excluding being side commander, I've been away too long to take that.
What files will I need for this Friday?

This sticky from Uncle Billy should give you what you need, Wittman https://kriegsspiel.forumotion.net/t370-set-up-for-sow-games-for-kriegspiel-style
We were talking abouty playing on one of the new Chancellorswille maps, but if you don't have that we can use another.
Assuming I host, I was planning on using a corps level OOB. With 5 mile maps its better to go larger than division to make sure someone, somewhere, bumps into the enemy reasonably quickly.
Was planning to use an OOB based on Chickamauga for a change. If we play a Union corps, and do not tick 'balanced', then we might come up against one of four different Reb corps. The nice thing about this OOB is these have widely differing strengths, so we won't know what we're facing.
Depending on what folks want, we can play as just one division or command a whole Union corps. One of the these has just 2 divisions (of 2 brigades each). With the 5 players we have so far, we could play corps commander, 2 division commanders and one brigade in each division. That way no-one would have more than one brigade and one or two batteries to directly command.
But whatever folks want really. It would be nice to sort it out beforehand though, so we don't waste time on the day.

Kevin is working on compatible maps for Chancellorsville. Until they are finished we can't use Couriers & Maps mod with Chancellorsville. Perhaps a reason to use other maps this time?Martin wrote:We were talking abouty playing on one of the new Chancellorswille maps, but if you don't have that we can use another.

Yes you can, been playing with HITS & Couriers mod on CV all week! Just load the mod and go! You need the small maps version because the maps that come with CV are the small ones.Blaugrana wrote:Kevin is working on compatible maps for Chancellorsville. I shall be on later as well, around midnight UK time for when the Yanks get home from work and want to play.
To be honest its CV maps I want to play on, will probably do something else if you guys play on one of the old maps!

Re: G/burg Friday 16th November at 19.30 UK Time
Having suggested a game tomorrow, I now have a couple of problems:
(a) I now cannot play until 20.00 UK time. Although I can definitely be there then. Am hoping that's ok with the rest of you, but if not, do feel free to go ahead without me.
(b) One of my new wizzo powerline adaptor units has developed a fault.......gaaaarh. Have asked for a replacement, but this obviously won't arrive before tomorrow, so I'm back to wireless for the time-being. Given this, it would probably not be a good idea for me to host tomorrow's game. Happy to supply a copy of my Chickamauga corps OOB if you guys would like to use that.

I will try to upload a version of Couriers&Maps with the C'ville maps included this evening. There were a number of road problems on the maps. Salem Church was by far the worst. C'Ville East had only a couple of very minor issues. They are excellent maps. One can even go boar hunting on one of them.

I noticed yesterday that the Union artillery earthworks east of the river at Chatham and towards Falmouth do not give any cover bonuses. They just don't exist as earthworks in the greyscale map. Would it be possible to convert them? As works they could be very useful in sandbox games.

Re: G/burg Friday 16th November at 19.30 UK Time
The bmp map shows 3 such works. They have the proper greyscale which should give them a defensive bonus of 85%. If the earthworks do not show a bonus, then they were put in the wrong spot. Try riding back and forth in that area till you find the defensive spot. The little picture in the middle of the toolbar will change. If it is not far off, then I might be able to move the greyscale a pixel or two. But if it is far off, then there isn't much I can do. I have no way to reference where the earthworks are relative to the bmp map.

The new version of Courier & Maps mod (1.500), is on the NSD site.
Download CourierAndMapsMod Here
It has mini-maps and repaired roads for the Chancellorsville maps. Let me know is you have any problems.

Thanks Uncle Billy, quick work
I will be available for gaming tonight.
Like Martin, 8pm is a better time for me but could prob make it for 7.30pm if needed.
I have CV but only given it a glance so far. Can't wait

I'll be there definately after 7.30pm.
Looks like a big battle is coming
If not all players have CV yet, I suggest installing the standalone Random maps mod from Garnier (posted on the Norbsoft site). So we could play on one of these.
There are no markings on the random minimaps yet. We could simply divide the minimap into sectors (x/y) so we can refer to them while playing HITS.
