[SubMod] New Terrain texture and French Translation.
Hello everyone. I create a topic here, not knowing where to do it elsewhere. My apologies if I was wrong.
I am creating this topic to inform you and seek advice from the creator of the mod.
With the community that I belong to, we play a lot and we are working on a French translation of the mod to improve our experience of the game. When it is finished, I would like to propose it to the developer so that he can integrate it directly in the future. version of mod.
I will also need your advice on finding Files.
I am looking for the textures of the terrain. I am a professional graphic designer, I work in video games, and I would like to improve the terrain texture, but without affecting the resolutions so as not to affect performance. Your help would be of great help to me.
I thank you in advance.
Take care of you
Looking forward to reading you

Re: [SubMod] New Terrain texture and French Translation.
We can always use better maps and new maps.
The terrain files are located in two different places. The vegetation sprites, trees, bushes, wheat, etc. files are located in the KS SOW Supplemental Maps\Graphics\Terrain folder. They are dds files. Information about those sprites is passed to the game engine via the gfx.csv file. It is located in the KS SOW Supplemental Maps\Logistics folder.
The ground textures are located in each map lsl file. They are located in the KS SOW Supplemental Maps\Maps folder. The lsl file is a packed file. To unpack it and then add new files you must use the LibEdit.exe program. Here is a link: LibEdit download. To use it, create a folder and copy the lsl file into it along with the LibEdit program. Open the lsl file, highlight all the files in it and press the Extract button. You have to press it once for every file. There are usually ~20 files. I just hold down the Extract button until the program finishes extracting all the files. The ground textures are all jpg files.
As you go through the process and find you have questions, just ask.

Oh thank you very much. I'm going to go see the textures and try to rework them.
And thank you very much for your support.
I will be sure to keep you informed of developments in the translation and of my little test on terrain textures.
Thank you again for your welcome.

Re: [SubMod] New Terrain texture and French Translation.
Good evening, I won't have taken too long to ask questions. ^^
We have almost finished a first version of the translation and I would like to do a test. I wanted to know if I should do anything other than just replicate the tree structure of the files in a folder named in the mods folder? Because if I put the smallest file, the smallest images, I have an error when launching. "Runtime Error"
And I noticed while exploring the textures that the terrain textures weren't that ugly, but just very, very zoomed in in the game.
How to adjust the display size of the textures in the game?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Re: [SubMod] New Terrain texture and French Translation.
What exactly are you changing? Are you redrawing the vegetation sprites or the terrain splats?
The vegetation scale is changed via entries in gfx.csv, column G. It is located in KS SOW Supplemental Maps/Logistics.
