Sunday June 16th 2019 face to face game at Little Gaddesdon
Hi all
The May game was a loose re fight of the first day at Chickamauga. The union were player controlled with the speciial idea of holding the road to Chatanooga open. The Confederacy were umpire controlled acting on the historical plan to cut the road.
As in the real engagement the challenge for both sides was maintaining situational awareness in densely wooded terrain.
The Confederacy tried their best and were almost successful in breaking the Union line. However the sensible action of enhancing natural defences in the centre and dogged determination to hold despite the odds in the South meant that while the line bowed it never broke.
With darkness falling the Confederacy were disordered with no time left before nightfall to reorganise. They have now fallen back in to the woods for the night.
There was a consensus to follow on the May game and see how day 2 develops.
We will aim to keep the same core player and umpire teams as far as possible but possibly vary the 'live' played side and special ideas as necessary to avoid everyone reading up on the battle!
If you couldn't make it don't worry, please sign up and we will add to the teams as necessary.
Some good feedback on the game mechanics. Overall the umpiring, logistics and message delivery worked well.
One key point we need to take away is the need to flex events if necessary to avoid any player ending up inactive due to events moving in an unexpected way. This is for the umpire team to consider and if necessary add something in 'on the fly' which doesn't tip game play to an unfair level but ensures that players have challenges and decisions to make rather than be left unoccupied. This will be a delicate balance but we will work something out!
Thanks again to David for building the scenario etc and to everyone for their contribution (and arriving on time!).
To ensure we get the OOB and player allocation optimised an early response to the attached poll would be appreciated.

Re: Sunday June 16th 2019 face to face game at Little Gaddesdon
Hi all
A quick reminder that next Sundays game will follow on from the last face to face re fight of the first day of Chikamauga. We have changed roles etc so their will be no advantage or disadvantage if you were or were not there!
A full briefing will be given on the day and the first phase will be all about allocating specific roles and giving time for an eve of battle planning conference.
As usual we have spent a lot of time planning and acting on previous feedback and the game looks like it will be good.
So, if you are unable to come or you are coming but have not updated the poll on the previous post (or let us know by other means) please let us know so we can adapt things to ensure everyone gets a good game.
Any questions beforehand please feel free to drop me an e mail.
I look forward to seeing some of you next week.
Cheers
