I do not know if this site has previously been found by one of our members but I came across it while looking for 1809 Italian campaign maps.

Main map page:

http://www.emersonkent.com/maps.htm

By year:

http://www.emersonkent.com/maps_by_year.htm

1790s map of N Italy:

http://www.emersonkent.com/map_archive/war_of_the_second_coalition.htm

I'm finding the site a little counter-intuitive to navigate and so far the maps all seem to be of very small scale but some enterprising people may dig in and find more.

I use the 1818 Pinkerton maps when designing our command maps. They are quite detailed, giving the names of numerous villages. The one shortcoming is that the place names are anglicized in some cases. I've never found a central repository for the maps, but if you google something like, Spain Pinkerton map, you'll usually be able to find it.

There is a fair selection of the Pinkerton maps on Wikipedia.

Great find chaps! The Pinkerton maps look great for KS, with their hachured contours.

There's also some really exotic stuff here, eg. Map of Surinam in 1818, which may in due course come in useful for a game based on Stedman’s colonial campaigns.

And that’s without really digging much!

Hi Everyone,

Just in case, this is an excellent source for a wide range of period maps: http://mapire.eu/en/

Some great maps here. Many thanks.

Just been looking at the Austrian 18th C military series. You could just print those off and use them in a campaign. I find the period graphics provide a much better feel for ground than modern contour maps.
