Naval games
The Fletcher Pratt Naval Wargame was one of the most successful naval wargames of the 20th century. The straightforward rules, based on the innovation of estimating the range in order to hit, have an enduring fascination as a simulation of the 'big gun era' 1900-1945. They are now published and obtainable HERE from Amazon - nice late Xmas present for somebody, perhaps?

Re: Naval games
Thanks chaps. Interesting stuff.
I would like us to do more naval-themed games at Little Gaddesden.

Re: Naval games
The campaign of Von Spee's squadron in the S Pacific in 1914 would make a very good KS I think. Maybe not so much its final end, but the allied efforts to find him immediately after the start of the war.
I'm reading a book about the Spanish Armada as well right now and that too would be good material for a KS game.

Re: Naval games
I think Jed and Steve, who ran our WW1 North Sea game last year, were thinking about doing one on von Spee. Yes, you're probably right that the chase is more interesting than the dénouement.
