Announcing GCM "Mini-Campaigns" Empty Announcing GCM "Mini-Campaigns"

Post  WJPalmer Fri May 27, 2016 2:01 pm

Hey Everyone,
Just an FYI that a new style of GCM SoW Gettysburg battle is making its debut tomorrow (Saturday). We're calling them "Mini-Campaigns" and are designed to model, to a degree, the 1864 slugfests that saw quick, successive battles with little opportunity for the armies to rest and refit between conflicts.
A Mini-Campaign is comprised of back-to-back, somewhat shortened, GCM battles with no opportunity to replace losses after the first battle. This is intended to introduce an entirely new (to GCM) consideration of strategic thinking whereby commanders are forced to consider their course in the first battle against the potential impact on winning the all-important second battle.

More details are available at this forum thread

Quick points:
-Mini-Campaigns are, by their nature, begun and finished in a single day;
-Players are asked to commit to playing both games;
-Players must have created GCM divisions, have the latest GCM Launcher installed, and be patched to the SoWGB 1.61 (the latest);
-Players must also have downloaded and installed in the Mods Folder the "GCM_Toolbar - Restricted ID" mod (the one that Kevin helped us with). Available here...

To be clear, this is not a HITS battle (GCM play typically involves a view of ~130 yards from the saddle and free TeamSpeak discussion within army channels rather than couriers). They are, however, played with Fog of War (enemy casualties are not visible) and now with "Restricted ID" (enemy officer and unit info is unavailable which in game).

If you're interested, have a solid internet connection, and are otherwise free for a few hours on Saturday, feel free to join the fun! (we will begin gathering on the GCM TeamSpeak channel sometime before 17:00/5:00pm U.S. Eastern Daylight Time).

Best,
Ron/Palmer
