Maximum MP battle size limit?

Just curious what this might be. We played a Russo-French game a few nights ago with 4 players vs the AI with 100,000 men on the field at a 6:1 sprite ratio. It worked very smoothly.

I have a figure of 108,000 men and 160 guns. Sprite count won't be an issue as we can go to a ratio of 8:1 or 10:1. Such a game would need all our players and its computer speed that drags us down. More players = more chance of a slow PC and a dropped player.

It would be spectacular to see a game that big with about 8 players a side.

I agree. Eight players with 100,000 troops around the town of Borodino .... ah....

According to Norb, there is no limit. It's like you said; the computer specs and internet connection are what bogs us down. I guess how many sprites you can fit on a map is the only true limit in a world where we all had super computers.

I have a scenario with 99,000 men on the field, that we can try Saturday if we are not having a campaign game. It is designed for 4-10 players and uses the new Lynchburg map. Ideally, we'd need 8 players to fully man both sides. However 5 players would make a challenging co-op game. That is especially true with Martin taking the role of corp commander, General Lieutenant Borozdin. It may well result in another dark page in Russian military history.

I have a feeling General Borozdin may not be left with a hat to stomp. This battle could go south in a hurry. It a good thing that's along the Russian LOC.

General Borozdin has received his situation report. A passing aide de camp has reported the stench of fear wafting from the general's tent. Extra hats and hankies have been ordered. Shall we get together at the normal time, Saturday, 20:00BST?
