The 5/7 Cav has reached the outskirts of northern Hue City, driving back the enemy behind the city walls. We are preparing an assault to breach the walls and take the airfield. I am requesting your support in this operation. Provide details on your force disposition and available units to support the 5/7 Cav assault.

Hello LTC!

I have most of three battalions along Rte 1 North, two more battalions at PK17, and another battalion at the Van Xa airfield. We are, of course, happy to provide whatever support we can to our good American friends. We do ask as a favor to the Vietnamese people that you refrain from bombardments on our cultural sites within Hue City.

Please direct 3 battalions to support the assault on Hue City from the north if possible. I have directed the 5/7 Cav to continue their attack and coordinate with your HQ at PK 17. I have also sent my recon assets to the west of Hwy 17 between Hue and Camp Evans to look for any signs of enemy movement coming from that direction. I will report any activity to you as I receive it.

We regret any damage to the beautiful city of Hue caused by the fighting in the south of the city. General LaHue is leading an assault to take the southern part of the city and is meeting heavy opposition.

I have also requested resupply but that will probably have to wait until we retake the airfield in Hue.

I should also mention that we had encountered some opposition in coming down Rte 1, though we managed to drive them off.
