Reiswitz' table

I have just received an email concerning Reiswitz' table.

Today, German magazine ran an article on Reiswitz' table in their online issue, they also feature decent pictures of it:

Both articles are in German, so you'll need a translator :-)
The main point in their article is to compare the table and
the game to recent role-playing and strategy computer games.

That's an interesting link. There are several photos of what appears to be the terain and ceramic troop blocks made by von Reisswitz's dad for the King of Prussia. Good to know they've survived the last two centuries.

The troop blocks look pretty similar to those later used in the 1824 rules.

The table & pieces used to be housed in a museum in the former East Germany. Bill Leeson wrote to them some in the 1980s, to try and find out more and perhaps arrange a visit from a group of us from the UK. They never replied.

I'm glad the thing has survived. It would be nice to somehow make sure we preserve these photos, for future access.
