Hi All
My username is Remus and I am also registered with SOW. I have been interested in war games from all eras for too many years that I care to remember. Napoleonic and seven years warfare are the periods that interest me most at the moment as played on SOW. I play mainly Sandbox games and mod the Napoleonic and SYW period. I have been unable to get a multiplayer game mainly because I live in Australia and finding time at 6.30 am is sometimes difficult with real life interfering most of the time. I would love to get involved with multiplayer whenever possible although I am limited in the amount of games I have played. I would appreciate any assistance in getting involved within this forum as i have received positive feedback from the various posts I have read here and at SOW

Hi Remus,
It's a shame I didn't hear from you sooner!
I'm also Australian, and found it very hard to find matches when I lived in Sydney (usually getting up at 3:30 am for the occasional match ).
Welcome to the forum - hopefully we'll be able to get you involved soon!
Best,
Khryses

Thank you Khryses.
I look forward to any further involvement .
Good to know someone else perhaps feels my frustration with the tyranny of distance.

Re: New member
Which part of the country are you in?
Perhaps we can bring back some the the face-to-face kriegsspiel materials we're enjoying here and set up some kind of Australian get-together...

Welcome Remus. You live in a tough part of the world for finding games at a reasonable hour. There is a game today and another one two days later. Games usually start at 19:30 or 20:30GMT. Some of us in the western part of the US could play later in the day which might allow you to have breakfast with your battle.

Hi Khryses
I am in Perth Western Australia and would appreciate any input from yourself.
Hi Uncle Billy
Yes it is difficult with time schedules. I managed once to get a game on SOW but it was about 6.00 am on a Sunday morning. However once I get familiar with KS I will make an extra effort to make some of the games.
Thank you both for input

If nothing else, then we should be able to get some games in when we return in 2015 - but I'm sure we can arrange something before that!
Do you attend EPIC at all?

Ah sorry, I meant CanCon (which is AT Epic) - probably the biggest boardgaming convention in Australia, and the likeliest way of getting people together from different cities in a venue.
Again, this probably won't be something we can get moving until my wife and I get back to Oz in a couple of years, but this is the site if it's something you want to look into: http://www.cgs.asn.au/cancon/
With regards to getting into SoW, you're 8 hours ahead of us in the UK. Probably the latest I can play on a weeknight is an 8:30 start (and that with some grumbling from my Lady), which is an early 4:30 start for you, allowing you to finish your glorious victory with breakfast. The weekend might be a better bet, but we're still looking at an early start for you unless we try to get a game going in our mornings.
Possibly 8-9am our time to your 4-5pm?
We wouldn't normally be on then, but it's certainly doable with some pre-planning afaiaa...
Again, I can't speak for our American cousins

Midday in the UK/13:00 in Europe vs 20:00 in Perth would also work.

Re: New member
This is true - a number of my upcoming weekends I'm occupied from 11:30-12, but certainly not all of them.
And even so, I'm sure there are enough enthusiasts to get a game or two going without my involvement being necessary

Almost made the game on Sunday morning. Had a look at MP lobby and saw KS game but my setup for a game seems to be faulty so I had to give it a miss. Will have to tweak my settings and get organised for something in the near future.

Ah, too bad you couldn't join. The 4 of us had a nice little coop game.
What kind of error did you get when you tried to join the room?

I had been trying to play MP solo to see if the game would play but it kept crashing at loading graphics

Take a look in the sowgb.log file, it's in the \Work folder. It should tell you what went wrong.

We can arrange a time for some of us to get on Teamspeak and talk you through fixing this.

Thanks for your offer Mr Digby. I have managed to get the Road to Wagram@Peninsula mod to work on MP Solo and I have managed to get onto the Teamspeak channel. I think I need to practice a few Hits games though as it is something I have only tinkered with in sandbox. Hopefully I will be able to join a game in the very near futureMr. Digby wrote:We can arrange a time for some of us to get on Teamspeak and talk you through fixing this.
