Napoleonic Generals for Nap mod
As some of you know, I am helping Gunship24 out with the Nap mod by putting together some portraits.
I have collected, trimmed and catalogued a few hundred and am now at the stage of mounting them to DDS files.
Feel free to look and take any that you might want. They are here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?7m3l3pecqmc5j
Also, if you see any mistakes, ommitions etc please let me know. I have trawled the internet and doubt there are many that I have missed. If you find any, please post a link or if you have any in books, a scanned image would be good
I have also over 350 Russian and Prussians collected for use later, if sprites are forthcoming.
Cheers
Mike

Good work Mike - I look forward to the additions!
I suppose there are other things Gunship would like help with? Is there a list?
Have you seen my invitation to him to join us in our HITS games? It seems madness to me that he's gone to all this effort, so that we can enjoy the fruits of his labours without him!!! If you're on good terms with him - will you encourage him to come along?

Re: Napoleonic Generals for Nap mod
I was asking about flags. Our Waterloo scenario looked odd with every unit have a British Union Flag.
Now that I'm starting to organise data for a Peninsular campaign some Spanish, Portuguese and strange foreign flags would be great.

If you give RebBugler samples of what you want, he might be willing to do a couple of flags. He is very good at that. Now that I'm starting to organise data for a Peninsular campaign some Spanish, Portuguese and strange foreign flags would be great.

Re: Napoleonic Generals for Nap mod
Yeh, bloody months
Mounting them actually looks quite easy but I'm not sure when that will be. 600 x any task takes a long time (especially for me).
Thanks Digby. I know I have most of them but there might be some I havn't searched for yet. I've searched all generals on the wagram, peninsular and waterloo oob's.
Ollie, I think Gunship24 is away on hol for a bit, but I will lso pester him. Although it seems HITS is not everones cup of tea' fancy that!

My brain cannot begin to fathom this statement. It seems so completely implausible, absurd, ridiculous, and downright preposterous.

No more flabbergasted that I, I am sure, when I read a reply to my post about a SoW Napoleonic video on YouTube by someone who was suggesting Napoleon: Total War, once modded, was better. "With Darthmod you get 40 units a side..."

Yes, well, the less said about the quality of comments found on YouTube, the better, what?

No doubt those of us who stoop to playing at a hundred yards from the saddle are without question morally inferior.

If I concede that those of you who stoop to such practices are without question skilfully superior, will you allow us the moral high ground sir?
P.S. Countering my humorous overstatement with irony took considerable planning to overcome. I hope it's appreciated

Re: Napoleonic Generals for Nap mod
Work has begun mounting the portraits and I have worked out how to get them in game.
A sample with a small OOB, screenshots:
http://www.mediafire.com/?6lalyawhh5yd8
They could do with some blending work etc but I think I will release them as they are and tart them up some time later.
Still gonna be a few weeks though.

Re: Napoleonic Generals for Nap mod
They look great. I think the b/w images work better than colour given the graphic to their left that they sit against. The only improvement I can think of is to try some sepia toning so they merge better with the left hand background but other than that, brilliant!
You could reduce the colour portraits to b/w as well I suppose.
For officers without a portrait I suppose you could use a generic image as NSD did for their ACW officers.

Re: Napoleonic Generals for Nap mod
Thanks for the feedback Digby
Sepia toning sounds a good idea ( I had to look it up to find out what it was ). It looks like gunship24 has applied some form of this to the background. I have sent him the link for comments and will see if he has any suggestions. I will post some sepia enhanced images soon.
I would also be in favour of pushing the portraits a bit to the right to allow greater room for text, especially if the OOB's are modified to show better on the Courier screen. Later, though.
I already have B/W copies of all the colour portraits. I also prefer B/W, I think. In time, I will prob have an alternative mod for those who prefer the colour. Again, I will post some for comments.

Next stage of adding sepia tone effect started and played with some cutting and blending effects.

Re: Napoleonic Generals for Nap mod
Work should be starting soon on the OOB's with Portraits. I am going to do the popular large Eckmuhl and Waterloo maps for general release on NSD forums first. A peninsular one hopefully too.
It would be good to adapt the KS OOB's that Kevin has been working on, so when you are happy with them, Kevin, please post me a DL link soon .
Leffe, or anyone else, please also let me know of any OOB's you would like doing soon.
I expect there will be a beta first which will be availible to the KS group and some others for download. It will not have the whole collection but only cover the first OOB's. All being well, a full version will follow some weeks later.
Still can't give a definite ETA for the beta yet. All depends on what days I have free in the next couple of weeks.

Mike, I'm working (slowly) on a better Waterloo OOB. Its a pity we don't have Prussian sprites that will work in MP as without them its a bit unbalanced!

I think Kevin is updating some of the OOBs.
I would like to see the main OOBs done, like Waterloo, Eckmuhl, Italy and Peninsular.

Re: Napoleonic Generals for Nap mod
Thanks chaps,
It looks like them four then, to start with. Kevin has sent me these this morning, thanks again.
Hopefully, Waterloo (improved) later, Martin. I will prob get the sprite packer when I have done the portraits and perhaps we could have a team effort once we work out how to do it ??
Once all the portraits are mounted, I will post the excell (or Word) lists of what each generals codes are for the OOB,s. Then you will be able to do and re-do your own OOB's without my input.
