"Drive for Knoxville" HG 11 Battle Results Hg_gam23

The Rebels scored a tactical victory with their backs to the wall at the entrance to Cumberland Gap in a battle of maneuver. As a result the Union is forced to delay the drive to Knoxville in order to deal with the threat to its flank. The casualty toll:

Confederates: 3,110
Union: 3,085
