Carrier Warfare in the Pacific Empty Carrier Warfare in the Pacific

Hello everyone!

I'm relatively new to this message board, I've been lurking for a few
months and I think that this is actually my first post here.

I am planning to launch a PBeM based kriegspiel sometime in August-
September covering one of the carrier battles in the Coral sea during
WWII and I'm basically looking for interested players. I will be
using the boardgame Flattop from Avalon Hill to resolve the fighting
and movement so the players will essentially be playing a PBeM game
of Flattop allbeit with a few modifications to make it more similar
to a regular kriegspiel. It is not necessary to own the boardgame to
play, but it will certainly help.

I haven't decided on scenario yet, it depends a little on how many
players I get, but I need at least two and not more that six players
to make it work. Each player will either command a Carrier taskforce
or be the overall commander and command all land based air and
smaller taskforces. Players will give orders every third hour (game
time) during the day and every sixth hour during the night and order
deadlines will be weekly. I might go down to hourly or bi-hourly
turns if things starts to heat up and I feel that I need to get more
frequent player input. Players can of course give orders for several
hours in advance and conditional orders to units depending on if an
enemy task force is sighted and so on.

So if you are interested then send me an e-mail so that I can decide
on the scenario and start rolling.

And if it hasn't progressed yet and you still want interested players,
please consider me interested, and also my friends Nick Murray and Colin
Wilcock (cc'd on this reply).

Hello everyone.

I have now more or less filled all the positions in the game, I just wanted to
send out another mail in case I have missed anyone. These are the players I have
this far and their preferenses:

Chris Pringle (Carrier TF or pretty much anything else, either side)
Nicholas Murray (Carrier TF or surface TF, either side)
Colin Wilcock (preferences unknown)
Vincent Chan (preferences unknown and my mails are bouncing from your mail
account)
Paul Dowden (preferences unknown)
Martin James (reserve, but will most likely play, no preferences known)

I will get initial briefings and your command positions out before September and
the game will begin in the second half of September as Paul didn't think that he
could play otherwise. Feel free to give me your preferences, the positions are
TF commanders and CinC on both sides where the CinC will handle land based air,
submarines and other small naval/air units plus receiving reports from various
non-player sources.

Here's a good link if you want to get yourselves aquainted with the battlefield,
the scenario will be set in the south pacific during 1942 and more details will
follow in the briefing.

A good topic but I believe real life (TM) got in the way of this.
